Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Doesn't say if they pay return freight.

If you don't like it now you probably won't like it later, it will always be a very savoury wine.
Thanks @olympicwiz and @redbigot . Probably I will just leave it and see how it transforms in a couple of years.

Re Grays I noticed there are some liquidation wine auctions. Anyone knows about the brand name Jarressa Estate and Torresan Estate?

I bought (but have not yet tried) some Jaressa wines from Vinomofo - they made some highly rated shiraz in 2017 and 2018. From WineCompanion, only showing those at 94 points or more:

There were a few Jaressa Wines on Vinomofo a while back, the one I bought (one of the Regional Reveal series) I sent back. But I bought a couple of labelled 6-packs of Shiraz on Grays at $17++, was expecting Chinese market back labels, but not at all on the one box I opened. Didn't open the other box as they sent me the wrong wine. Natural cork seal.
I also bought the first 6-pack of the 2015 Vintage Cuvée Méthode Traditionnelle Adelaide Hills at about $10pb, it's Ok, some complexity, a little on the dry side, going price has jumped a bit now.

I have bought this one Shiraz / Syrah 2017 Auction (0016-10733898) | Grays Australia
Thinking the worst case it would go into SpagBol sauce (SWMBO recently opened one of my prized reds for her sauce)
When I tried it - I immediately bid and won another sixer.

The box is different to the one in the picture - it doesn't say "Cleanskin" anywhere. Massive cough-off bottle screaming quality and 15% alc stated (said 14% in the listing). Nothing medium about it - it is big, between your eyes fruit bursting shiraz. I didn't expect it from 2017.

The cork is natural and feel as if it was just bottled. But the wine is definitely aged a bit.

Anyone know this one?

Post automatically merged:

Also, does anyone have any knowledge of when BWS refresh their clearance lines? Seems to have been same old for many many weeks here in CBR...
Probably Penley EOS 2020 - has been offered around the traps at a fair few places.

Thursday or very late Wednesday BWS refresh clearance lines.

A few added in Melb stores last week with 10% off only so no interest yet. Needs a fair reduction

I like Cabernet blends, Pinot noir, shiraz - up to $20-$30 a bottle.
Cabernet blends I don't follow.
Pinot Noir on Grays is very variable, there have been some Pinots in your price range, but few and far between. I have bought a few Buy Now Pinots on Grays, but in the $50+ range, they sometimes have some deals cheaper than elsewhere (Dalrymple Single Vineyards, Rockburn top level labels) not much currently.
Shiraz I mostly buy at the $7-$15 range for quaffer packs for my friends. There is a steady supply of reasonable Shiraz at that level if you know what to look for.
One I've bought a bit of is Shiraz / Syrah 2022 Auction (0083-10734013) | Grays Australia often starting at $39/6++, sometimes less. This wine actually won the 2024 NWS Shiraz trophy
SHIRAZ TROPHY Won by: De Bortoli 2022 Heathcote Handcrafted Shiraz

But, like many show winners, it's actually not up to that standard IMO, you may be more impressed.

The De Bortoli Rutherglen Origins Shiraz Durif 2019 was a favourite, unfortunately finished now.

Out of your price range, but the stunning Buy Langmeil Shiraz / Syrah 2021 | Grays Australia is probably the best price around on Grays.
This Buy Shiraz / Syrah 2021 | Grays Australia is Heirloom White Label Barossa Shiraz.
Other VIP offers here: Grays.com VIP Wine Club - Heavy Red Wine

Head Heart and Home, 2021 lovely Shiraz-dominant blend. Shiraz / Syrah 2021 Auction (0013-10733879) | Grays Australia

Re Cab Sav I bought this Margaret River Cab Sav. Bought 2020 and 2021 Haven't tried yet but will later this week

The reason I stumble across it was because I bought their Gewtztraminer for SWMBO. It is too sweet for me but it actually works very well with very spicy foods. I chill that MF to make it more drinkable.

I didn't find any Pinot Noir so bought this Grenache. (For something on a warm Sydney night when it is too hot to have a heavy shiraz)

I really don't care about Grenache but this one was great for the price. Ended up buying 4 packs. I also cooled it for about 30min in the fridge before drinking. Worked well with grilled salmon.

I also bought Jarressa 2017 McLaren Vale Shiraz that I have described above.

Yeah, the PL Grenache is a good deal, my people were all over it and I bought a couple too.

Really tempted to grab that Orphan Bank Shiraz. An amazing wine. I bought 2018 a bit cheaper at Dan Murphy so was hoping for a better price!
RRP is now $75 and no better price so far that I've seen. I got the 2019 for $55, didn't buy 2020.
I did a vertical of 6 Orphan Bank 2015-2021 minus 2020 for my Monday tasting group, stunning flight, even 2017 was lovely.

Any thoughts on what to grab from Cellarone? I have a $20 voucher to use by the end of the week and $55 credit. Could bring the 2013 Shadrach to $41pb for 3. Some of those Houghton's would come down to around $30pb for 6. Anything tasty people would recommend in there?

I rate the CW Ferguson as a good buy
