$30 2018 Nebu

Thanks heaps for posting this. Have been wanting a dash of it for the cellar since it hit around this price in small amounts that I missed out on at vintage cellars during the covid write down frenzy five years back. Very pleased to nab a case, particularly the '18 given it carries a JH//HH confluence at 96pts.

Of course, the continued huge discounting of blass n burge etc primo wines does make me wonder what's going on here.

Skye Cellars offer, with free refund if not happy. Any ideas?
Decent wine although fading slightly after an hour open. Rang Skye but they would not divulge maker.

From the email (emphasis is mine):

56.4/43.1/0.7% cabernet sauvignon/ shiraz/other, from vines aged 20–120 yo. Matured 18 months in 18% new French oak hogsheads, then barrel selected. One of the most exciting modern additions to the extensive Grant Burge portfolio, a cracking rendition that epitomises the integrity and endurance of the great Australian blend in the Barossa. Impenetrable in depth and vibrant in hue, contrasting blackcurrant and blackberry fruit density and a crunch of vibrant energy. Super-fine, commanding tannins, great fruit drive and high-class French oak make for impressive potential. Drink to: 2048; Price: $100.00; Date Tasted: Feb 2019; Alcohol: 14.5; Rating: 96 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion
Thanks and also thanks to @redbigot . Boomed on a case, too, and sharing with friends. 2018 Cab/Shiraz makes it difficult to not to buy ;)

I don’t recall when this became a $60/btl wine, but reasonable buying now: Mount Avoca
I reckon the 6premium mixed shiraz at $149 would be a better punt for variety from them.
I do remember a pyrenees shiraz from the Fo years ago that was sublime but I only managed 2 botts. Winery escapes me...

this does sound like a cracker indeed, and a JH 96 is good. But it did leave me to think how much do you need to see at normal retail pricing for a wine to get a JH 97 or 98? We are talking the richter scale here where every point has to infer a wine that is at least fifty per cent better than the number below. Consequently the Nebu at one hundred dollars ain't cheap but you can get plenty of good Shiraz at 96JH for thirty five bucks on special say when normally about $50. So the value equation to me seems a bit out of whack. But scores to some are scores to others. I am sure that Sam Kim would score this higher judging by past comments made. Maybe another Aussie judge would give in 92, another 95. it's so tricky however for under $30, I do not think you can go far wrong. I still can taste the absolute awesomeness of the 2009 Meschach which got my best wine of 2016 award. So what did it beat you ask. Hungerford Hill Gundagai 2013 shiraz,Hoddles Creek Top Paddock Pint 2015 at twelve a bottle if you don't mind umpire, Epsilon tempranillo 2015, Kakaba reswerve Shiraz 2013 and in sixth, Driftwood from double you aye semillon 2016. I love these drives down memory lane at time.
