Didn't get to meet up with slaker in the end as I didn't know where to look.

Awesome event, especially for $30 and combined with my Amex DMs run :). Bolded were good, reduced colour and font size indicating the bad stuff.

I really wanted to like the Australian Vintage but it was just awful. Lanson NV also terrible. Agree with samh004, Billecart is definitely now in my top 3 along with Bollinger and Dom.

Wow! Sam.. this is extremely thorough... and fast!
And Mr Orange.. a bit harsh with the "reduced colour" allocations..
To me this was a fantastic opportunity to taste champagne/sparkling that i may never have had the chance to line up in comparison... Well done Dan :)
But... the aggressive (go for the best stuff first) attitude (which dominated the first part of he evening) I found distasteful about the event.
The staff were great.. they served people quickly.. promoted the wines well.. and were engaging and interactive.
I asked people how they found out about the event and most people I spoke to were not champagne lovers... in fact some were "Sparkling wine gives me indigestion" people.. not taking the higher ground here.. I only found out about it by AFF..
Ideally a lounge full of champagnes, knowledgeable staff, and of course knowledgeable consumers would have made it perfect :) And this had huge potential :)

Sorry. I really did go in with an open mind and to be fair, I was disappointed with some of the French vintage preferring the equivalent NV. The BNE event had a similar scrum at the French tables but I didn't see anyone being too greedy so all in all I thought it worked well. Having the Krug as a welcome drink, thereby guaranteeing that everyone got one was a very good idea.

I wish I had seen this earlier. I would have been a definite starter.
