That's why I said if the golfers wanted to stay in Tasmania Sam.

Perhaps you could organise the golf;)
LOL. Are there many 4 hole golf courses around? ;)

Are there any good golf courses near Hobart anyway?
I have played Royal Hobart, Tasmania and Claremont and all are good.

Claremont may be a good idea as it is next door to Cadbury's Chocolate factory and the Derwent River. At least those that do not play golf can have an alternate activity.

P.S I saw icebergs floating down past the golf course when I was there in early November 6-7 years ago. Brrrrrrr....

A good suggestion!

But hopefully we don't see any icebergs!!

I think "real golfers" shold be banned from such occasions; anyone who can go under 100 is too good for me. JV
A 'real golfer' is someone who can go under 76. Perhaps 72 even. ;)

If you would have played with me the past 2 weeks I came very close to 100 a few times and it was not fun along with all the other stuff happening to me at the time.

Sometimes I get close to a hundred as well!:p:lol::oops:

mmmm, you won't want to be going to Barnbougle then Jacques

Doesn't matter if everyone else is just as cough as me!

At AFF #6 my son said I was the most inconsistent golfer he had ever seen; just becaue I followed up a par with an 11!

Children are such tough critics.

Cadbury Chocolate Factory as I suggested earlier. ;)

Limited midweek opening hours (no weekends) unfortunately, but their website does state:

Regular opening hours:
Open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm. Closed weekends and public holidays. Please call to confirm opening times before you visit: Call Toll free 1800 627 367

...so maybe something can be organised if we wish.

On the organising note, my work situation is volatile, but that permitting I am happy to help in the organisation of the event. I'm not Hobart-experienced (couple of visits only) but happy to help with legwork, and work permitting, to fly down and do a reccy of things.

A reccy to Hobart? Heck, I may even do that!

I'm a little confused as this discussion is going on across two threads. Do we have an organising committee or not?

Also, when does the poll expire?

And, I would be up (down?) for a reccy also. Probably aiming to head down there in the next couple of months anyway :)

I think a few have expressed interest in helping out, as to who's in charge, I don't know, but maybe VRC, who posted in the Location thread.

If it's a date I can attend, I'm happy to help from afar.

This poll will close on 9th February 2013 at 04:12 PM

I have done these two tours / tastings in the past and can recommend both. Cost is reasonable and staff are friendly & informative.

Tasmanian fresh produce is also excellent.

I will come too, would be funny. Just don't get on the same flight as me on the way there or back. ;)
