To make a round about suggestion, do not alert Amex (any more than you already have), to the fact that you already have an Amex as according to their T&Cs, they may withhold the bonus.

They already knew I have another card with them. I had two, and when I was talking to the staff last week to cancel one of them, I was told that I would still be eligible for the bonus points from the new DJs Amex.

Wasn't that the whole attraction of the DJs Amex offer anyway - that you're eligible for the points unless you've held a DJs Amex in the past 18 months?

Amex seems inconsistent on this these days, and that was mentioned in relation to this card in one thread here. See my post 18 above for what my referral link said. You are lucky, but I would not push it.

I am suggesting to my recipients that they make the 3 x $1 charges and see if the bonus appears which is very fast crediting, and if not if they so choose, immediately cancel.

When setting up my online account, Amex said it was part of their agreement with DJ that card was treated with separate logins. My wife holds AMEX card and referred her to DJ card. Bonus were all promptly received.

It was a manager who told me 'no' this morning. Just called Amex again and they confirm that it pertains specifically to the DJs card.

30,000 AMEX points for $99 is still a great offer. Especially with the earn rate potential with this card plus all of the very large number of places to redeem your points.

I'm just coming up to my 12 months with this card and will be keeping it - even if just for the AMEX offers (small shop is coming!).

1. Is the Amex membership rewards program the ascent one which transfers 1 to 1 into AsiaMiles, Krisflyer etc? Or is it the Amex Explorer one which transfer at 4 to 3?

2. Who are the 9 airline transfer partners?

3. How many points does the referrer get?

4. Is the approval process the same as normal Amex cards so that if you are an existing Amex customer it will be super quick with application as the identity part is done and do you have to prove your income again? Or is the Amex DJ system totally autonomous so that you will have to go through all steps?

1 No; it's another program again and transfers to Asia Miles at 2:1 or 3:2 (can't remember exactly as I have been given different answers when I rang to ask). Edit: Just checked again and told it is 2:1at present.

2. QF @ 1:0.75. Others refer here: David Jones AMEX partners

3 20k if it's the basic (black) card. (I think it is 30k for the platinum card or at least it was some time ago.)

4. Separate application IME
