David Jones Amex offer 30k $99 July 18

Thanks to everyone who contributed in bringing this thread, and hence this card, to my attention. I think it's going to be a valuable little addition to my wallet and I'd like to toss my referral into the mix.

The pitch:

You get 30,000 DJs membership reward points, or 22,500 Qantas points (better value than the membership rewards option, IMHO) after 3 non-DJ spends within one month.

That's not a lot, granted, but the annual fee is only $99 and I found the application quick and pain-free. The card arrived 4 days later. Then you, too, can try for a double-referral bonus or two to boost the ROI.

Minimum income is $40,000, and you can set a low credit limit. Handy for low-income earners who don't qualify for the high-bonus cards.

A good earning card with 3 reward points, or 2.25 Qantas points, for supermarket and petrol spend (most major brands.)

If you use my referral link by August 15 and are approved by August 29, I get 40,000 membership reward points or 30,000 Qantas points. We're building our points for a late 2019 trip to see our grand-daughter in London (and, okay, her parents as well.) Hoping to be there for her second birthday, if the awards Gods are kind.

When I look at the referral T&C's it mentions (for the Platinum card) that the welcome offer is available for those who have NOT had the Platinum DJ card in the past 18 months.

but if you check David Jones American Express Platinum Card the T&C there has
Customers applying for the David Jones American Express Staff Card or Card Members who currently hold or who have previously held any other David Jones Credit Card product issued by American Express Australia Limited in the preceding 18 month period are ineligible for this offer.

Now I want to see what the T&C on this upgrade letter...
did somebody on here get an upgrade to platinum recently? called amex today was advised upgrades could be obtained only by popping into a DJ store. is that true?

Yes I went in last week to upgrade. That's why I mentioned earlier about the upgrade being 40k and the referral to Platinum being 50k. That's what they offered and it's on their brochures in store

Hopefully someone got a nice surprise bonus - can't remember whose link I used sorry!
So am going to transfer to SPG - hopefully not to late.
Then I have to move out of SPG by when, end of this month before devaluation, correct?

Hi all - my best Qantas point earning card is the David Jones Amex. $99PA and 2.25 Qantas points at major supermarkets and petrol stations. Free additional cards ask to get bonus 5,000 for those too qualifying income only $40,000PA:

My referral link: http://amex.com.au/refer/kathloADKp?XLINK=MYCP

DJ's Reward Points convert to .75 Qantas points and you can set that up automatically. So at major supermarkets and petrol stations you get 3 Reward Points = 2.25 Qantas. The qualifying spend is 3 purchases (no specified amount) outside of DJs in a month.

"You can receive 40,000 Reward Points when you refer a friend by 15 August 2018 and your friend applies by 29 August 2018 using your link and is approved. Your friend can apply for the Card you have or choose from a range of other Cards that are part of your referral program.

Your friend will receive 30,000 Reward Points if they are approved for a David Jones American Express® Card and meet the spend criteria. (T&Cs apply). That's 10,000 more points than what they would regularly receive."

"Participating retailers in Australia include the following merchants who have been classified as “major supermarkets”: Bi-Lo, Coles, Fishers, Food For Less, Fresh Provisions, Harris Farm Markets, IGA, Macro Wholefoods, Safeway, Supabarn, Thomas Dux and Woolworths. Participating retailers in Australia include the following merchants who have been classified as “major petrol stations”: Ampol, BP, Caltex Woolworths, Gull, Metro, Mobil, Peak, Safeway Petrol, Shell, United, Woolworths Petrol and 7 Eleven."

you can keep it in spg as when the switchover takes places spg will convert to marriott at the same ratio.
Unless you have a specific airline u wish to transfer to ( as few ratios will decrease)

Yeah, I cannot believe how quickly they have been posting. When my wife and father's bonus DJ MR points posted, I transferred across the morning they posted and they were in the SPG accounts the same evening (I thought they may merge the program first thing in August, so played it safe).

Essi, note that you have a little longer to do your homework as the integration date of SPG into Marriott has been announced as August 18.

It would be great if AMEX come out with a 'last day to transfer SPG', or do we just take it as the same day the program's merge?

I think it says it will be out till 11pm tonight, and then was it 11pm tomorrow night to 7am Saturday morning?

Invariably, it'll probably be unavailable for longer as IT maintenance always seems to throw up it's fair share of unforeseen hiccups!

Thank you to the kind AFFer who used my referral link in the last few day, very much appreciated :):D:):D

Hi Everyone,

Have been in this forum for many years, but never posted any referrals and would like to take this opportunity to try the first time.

Yes, got told not available over the phone also on several occassions.

The customer reps and supervisors however said that the new transfer rates had not been confirmed, regardless of what had been reported.

It looks like applying direct to David Jones for the Black Card $99 give you 40,000 MR Points or 30,000 Qantas Points. Are there any updated referral links that give you more points on top of the direct offer?
