Hi AFF. I've been lurking for months now but finally thought I'd say hello... and a belated thanks for all the useful tips!
Mr Carambola and I love to travel. We usually go on a couple of overseas holidays each year, plus a few AU / NZ short hauls when JQ sale fares get too tempting. He's a travel agent specialising in RTW flights, but I'm the points junkie of the pair. It was very exciting this morning to have finally waited out the 18 months to re-qualify as a "new member" for the AMEX 100k bonus.
Work-wise, I mainly fly down the coast from BNE, just enough to retain VA Gold. QF Gold would be nice, but 700 SC without family pooling is a bit too much of a push so I'm aiming for a status challenge next time I get a solid burst of upcoming travel. OW makes more sense since we've got family in Asia and South America, and most of our personal travel is Y on QF, CX or LA. Lounge access for some of those longer trips would make all the difference!
The best flight of my life (not the most comfortable, but the most stunning) was EZE to SYD on a perfectly clear day, where I had views of the Andes for a few hours then Antarctica for a couple more. The travel bug bit me then and hasn't really stopped.
Looking forward to chatting more!
