DEFT still charging 1.5% - is that still allowed?

I haven’t used them yet but signed up. It’s the same people as own Payment Logic which appears to be Amex only.

Just received a reply from EBP...

During the past twelve months, our merchant fee charged by the bank has increased from around 0.87% - 0.97% to 1.05% - 1.37%, depending on the type of credit card used by the customer.

Any credit card attached to a high rewards points programme is charged a higher merchant fee by the banks. We therefore decided to increase the merchant fee to a middle range of 1.3% to cover our costs.

As you can appreciate we have no control over the type of credit cards used by our customers and nor do we have a mechanism to identify whether a customer’s credit card is a high rewards card or not. Thus it was neither possible nor practical for us to charge different rates so we decided to apply a flat fee across all cards.

Looks like ANZ partnered with Yak Pay: Visa and Payment Logic launch Yak Pay, making it easier for small businesses to pay suppliers | Press Release so I'm going to try them out.

Well, that’s all very interesting but they didn’t send you an email out when they sent everybody else one. I wonder which card is 1.37%.

Correct no email when they made the changes. I flagged that with them again when I replied to the above message.

All VISA & Mastercard are 1.3% I assume as they say above they don't know which cards are points cards or not so charge everyone that fee... they don't accept AMEX to begin with.

Seems fair these type of businesses clip the ticket - why else would they provide the service?

Yep only Santa and Easter Bunny provide gifts for free - business is business - don’t like it then shop next door - it ain’t complicated.

Has anyone recently signed up to YakPay?
Their signup page 404 errors for me and has been for a week now. I tweeted to the company last week asking if it's down and I haven't heard anything back yet so wondered if it was just me?

Don't know if you've heard back from them yet or if anyone else has replied. Recently signed up myself. Originally tried to get involved with their sister platform but turned my nose up at the fact they weren't accepting any cards barring Amex. I believe this link should work https://web.yakpay.com/#/signup. Compared to a few other platforms I've tried the flow is nice and seems pretty linear - no payment issues thus far

It's weird.

At home it doesn't work. At work it does. The percentage difference though I've decided is only $250/yr so I can't be bothered to move. It's also for personal use and YakPay asks for a ABN.

I've made personal payments on YakPay with my businesses account. Obviously I have no issue placing my businesses ABN in as I own it but your circumstances may be different. First part could be related to a network thing or something along those lines.

i finally have to deal with DEFT.. what a croc, 1.5% % 3.3%
we picked the strata company.. didn't check this before signing up with them..baah!

hmm, i can't do EFT with this strata levy and it doens't look like yakpay do bpay?
EBP it is then :(

Does anyone have any referral code for EBP ( not sure if that even exists) , right now the sign-up seems to be disabled. Cheers

I think Macquarie DEFT have the strata payments market all sewn up. They’ve always been the payment option for all the strata schemes I’ve ever been involved with.
