I recently went to use fly ahead on a SYD-OOL flight but was told that the flight is full. 3 minutes later, I did a search on the website and three seats were showing as for sale.

I called velocity platinum but by the time I got through to them (maybe 5 minutes later), they also told me the plane was full. The guy on the phone insisted that "my phone must be showing you an old session" and that's why I was able to see seats. I'm no IT whiz, but if I never ran a session before the original search I did, how can it be showing a previous session?

After this I did a search on the website and no seats were showing.

Is there a delay in the updating of the website when seats are sold?

Knowing airlines in general, it would not surprise me in the slightest if there were still seats being shown as available for sale even after there clearly were none.

But considering the desktop version was accurate, I'd file this one under VA's ongoing IT woes.

I'm no expert but I believe there can be a small delay, up to around 15 minutes. This applies for all airline booking systems.
