A Delta flight from Atlanta to Barcelona had to return to Atlanta due to a passenger suffering a bout of diarrhoea so bad it spread throughout the cabin.

"It's just a biohazard issue," the pilot could be heard saying over the radio in the snippet. "We've had a passenger who had diarrhea all throughout the airplane, so they want us to come back to Atlanta."

Not trying to put blame on the person who caused this - I'm sure they had a horrific time and were very embarrassed. But I wonder why someone would board a plane in this state?

Serious question - would an airline let you rebook your ticket free of charge for the next day if you weren't feeling well prior to boarding? Surely that would be in everyone's best interests, but I can just see an airline refusing or wanting to charge a hefty change fee for this, with this being the outcome.
