I was wondering if anyone has had any experience on accessing delta lounges specifically LAX and SFO while travelling on an expired platinum card. I have maintained platinum this year, i suspect my cards were stolen out of the letterbox with a few other things this week, so looks like i wont have my cards. I have a letter from virgin stating i have maintained. I will be over the "valid for 1 month after review" period for 2 of the visits, any experiences with what my luck is going to be like here?

Delta has automated status recognition for VA status members ( should show Sky Priority on BP) so they know you are a status member with VA and should have no issues , however , you may encounter a lounge dragon having a bad day....

Yeah, they have always asked for my card even when the BP shows the status. Guess i am just going to have to try my luck and hope it all works out.

I would hope for the best and expect the worst - I've always had my card checked and had to explain the valid for a month past expiry thing once before, so I wish you luck..

Yeah. The few lounge visits with the expired card and the letter will be interesting, but i am not holding out too much hope.

I got rejected by Delta lounge staff at New Orleans with an expired gold card even though I'd re-qualified and the status was on the BP. Apparently they wanted a new expiry date to be put into the system and they only would accept the card.

I have a letter with my new date from virgin, which is basically pleading to let me int the lounge. As notzac i am not going in expecting much will plan accordingly.

I am surprised it takes virgin so long to get a new card out to the sydney CBD.

That's quite average, really. If they really wanted they could surely remove the FQTV code and add it again to check the status??? Or add an FQTS???

Madness...

I went through a few Delta lounges in the last few weeks and they thoroughly checked my card despite my boarding pass saying Sky Priority. I also was in my review month and had to explain it each time. Had to battle to get in at Minnesota airport they started going on about needing a follow on international, basically mixing VA up with VX.
SFO lounge is very average anyway only Minnesota was worthwhile and even there the food wasn't worth bothering with.

First lounge(LAX) was no problem. Didn't even check my card just the status written on the boarding pass.
Was the first run of their new updated lounge food, they had bagels and some pre made sandwiches.

Yeah. It was nothing special. Instead of the usual cheese and ranch dip they had some bagels and waffle like things. No toaster for the bagels which i found very strange.
