I've booked PER-SEA return for early next year through VA - flying J so will be sitting in F on the Delta-operated flights LAX-SEA-LAX. I of course wasn't able to select seats for those flights during the VA booking process and used my VA PNR to bring the booking up on the Delta website (which also gave me the Delta PNR). I can click on the seat selection link for both flights but I then get a message across the top of the seat map which says "Currently you can only view seats for this flight" and I can't actually select anything. Has anyone else come across this? Is it something that will clear/disappear closer to the departure date and I'd be able to select seats or would I need to call Delta to put in seat requests (if they'll let me LOL)?

Thanks :)

Phone VA and ask for your Delta PNR to select seats on the Delta site.

Its a pita but that's the only way Ive been able to get around in on Delta and SQ flights with VA bookings.

I've already got the Delta PNR - I used my VA PNR on the Delta website, just to see whether it would work, and lo and behold it did, the booking came up with the Delta PNR also showing at the top of the page. Unfortunately even using the Delta PNR to bring the booking up on the website still gives me the same "you can only view seats" message :(

That's a thought - no, haven't tried the app, I'll download that and give it a go!

Definitely try the app. I have not come across that specific message but you can definitely select seats via the app no problem.

Please report back how you go

I rang Delta direct and they were very helpful with assisting me select seats. When they hear that Aussie accent, they become quite enchanted and friendly.

Thanks, will do.

Good to know! :)

Reporting back - no success unfortunately. I tried the website again, just in case - still showing "Currently you may only view seats for this flight". Downloaded the app to the iPad and tried that, but received exactly the same message for the LAX-SEA and SEA-LAX flights - don't know if it's perhaps because it's so far ahead of the departure date? Looks like I'll have to give Delta a call if I want to do seat selection - I guess there's only 12 F seats on each flight, so there's probably not a "bad" one LOL.

By all means call them ... codeshares with VA are a PITA ...

That is very strange, I have only seen that message when looking at non-DL operated codeshare flights.

Never booked a VA codeshare on Delta before, so not sure if it is normal.

Do you get the same message when browsing on the VA operated flights on the website or something different?

No, there's a different message when I look at the VA operated flights on the Delta booking (already selected seats for those during the VA booking process) - "This flight is operated by a carrier other than Delta and seat assignments are not currently available" and my VA seat selections don't show on the Delta website either, it just has "Select seat" against every flight. I also note the PER-SYD flight doesn't show up on the Delta itinerary for some reason (maybe because I'm flying that the day before the SYD-LAX flight? although it's on the same VA PNR) but all the other sectors SYD-LAX-SEA-LAX-SYD-PER do. I noted my Velocity number wasn't showing on the Delta itinerary either - at the bottom of the page under "Passenger Information" the FF # section was blank, so I've added my Velocity number in and it was saved successfully, and now showing status of "Gold Medallion/Elite Plus" so I assume that's the equivalent of VA Gold?

As I've posted on the "VA/Velocity websites are rubbish" thread, after a schedule change (advised by VA earlier this month) for the LAX-SEA flight, the booking on the Delta website is now showing incorrect details - it has the original LAX-SEA flight, not the one I've been moved to, and VA2 has now dropped off completely, although my connecting SYD-PER flight (last one on the itinerary) is still there!

Yes, once your VFF number is entered in DL booking, the system recognises you are Gold. If you get a printed boarding pass it will also show VA Gold
