Denali Demo and Rebuild

Yes... He was telling Mr Denali that the dodgy build up the road got a $22K bill from Workcover from when they built scaffolding around the live wires. He knows this as the owner blames neighbour and demanded they pay for it 🤣. Words like "add it to the asbestos bill that I'm also not paying" was said

Mr Denali giggling and saying something like "its over 200". I dont pretend to care what this means but hes happy and the NBN guy is still here, making sure Mr Denali is happy

We've been with iinet for decades and I must say, their service has always been very, very good.

That's fast enough for everything. We get 250 with a Telstra wifi connection, no NBN.

Because our appliances were delivered to the garage and not able to be installed (because of carpet laying), 3 x site managers currently hauling our appliances to the kitchen and laundry and installing them.

Which isnt a bad thing because I was a bit nervous about the fridge plumbing for water and ice maker

Technically still not have "handover" and I believe they are going to give us the keys tonight and do the happy pic handover during the week

Our plan tonight is to drag our mattress into our bedroom and set up to sleep on the floor tonight, furniture coming tomorrow.

Im also going to lay carpet protection plastic stuff on the floors tonight so movers dont make too much of a mess tomorrow

Im pretty sure this is the weirdest handover theyve ever had 🤣 ...... considering we have the super secret builders key, we were always going to go in today - with permission or not

Denali, over the weekend, we were at the IC at Sydney - near the Opera House, they had some nice lights that I thought would be good on your stairwell.View attachment 384209
Are you going to get DrRon up on a ladder to get them down? It seems like a bit of a risky plan, just to get an invite to the house warming.

I know what you mean about settlement disappointment. We settled on an apartment from plan several years ago. It was part of several other buildings, ours was the first finished. I received the keys in the city and drove out to the building of the apartment. There was still lots of building happening. The CFMEU flag was flying on two of the other buildings. Tootling along in my car and was stopped by a hard helmet burly guy. 'You can't come here, it's a building site'. "Umm. Yeah. I can. Your contractors have settled my apartment and that means I have legal entry", jangling the keys. Harrumph. "We'll see about that". Makes a phone call. I'm still stopped. Ok, proceed. "But this is still a building site and you have to follow our instructions". Yeah. Roger that.

We are in and tech handover was done.

Our poor Const manager - I was like, thanks for that, leave the keys. You guys have been working hard all day so off you go 🤣 . No pics, no fan fare. Im excited but also tired and we know how much is still to be done to move in. They will return later next week to do the red bow on the front door thing.

Then Mr Denali and I dragged our mattress into the bedroom and brothers in law helped Mr Denali move all his guitars from secure storage into our Harry Potter cupboard as too many strangers in the house over the next couple of days so best keep them out of sight.

Our builder (Const manager, Warranty Manager and Tradie manager) pushed and pulled our beast of a fridge through the house and down stairs into place - will do pics tomorrow. This is the reason why we knocked down our house as hubby wants a ice maker fridge and there was no way our teeny tiny fridge would fit it so his answer was to build around one

But thats technically it - we have a house. No landscaping, driveway ect but we have a lovely new house 😍

Good luck and congratulations Denali
You did it!!🍾🍾

Wonderful news. Congratulations 🎉
I have built twice and never experienced a handover photo with bow on the front door so I’m looking forward to your photos and living vicariously through them ( as I couldn’t go through a build again 😀)
I hope you sleep peacefully tonight.

Congratulations - it may not be what you thought handover would be but marvellous that tonight you sleep in your new place.
