Denali Salmon Bake- 3 nights in hillside cabin, a mixed experience.
Negatives-
Promised pick-up from train forgotten (we were delivered by another property owner).
Key given to us by office but room maid was still working on room (went & had lunch & killed time)
No drinkable water in the unit-can refill bottles down at the restaurant
No drinking vessel of any description in the room
Early morning shuttle to catch bus into the park-unable to go until the staff driver waited to start work-all of 5 minute drive-still got there in time
Dinner meal in restaurant replaced after waitress agreed it did not meet menu description & basic quality
Room cleaning after 2nd night not done by our 3pm return. Eventually came along and asked if anything was required-vast contrast to the service we had just experienced across the road at the King Salmon restaurant.
Generally the staff seemed a bit short on training and direction but tried hard-perhaps students & backpackers who constantly move on
Positives
Room was as described, 2 comfortable beds, clean shower with good hot water, heating could be controlled accurately
Excellent prompt shuttle from our return from the national park.
Good bar with moderately priced drinks and good atmosphere.
Room with the lived in look
the bathroom area
The Samon Bake rooms are perhaps the closest to the park entrance road. The immediate area is also serviced by other bars, restaurants, supermarkets, tour booking groups, bottle shops, subway store and generally suited our needs.
