Devaluing of the VA Flexi Fare.

(Eg. Guess how many flights I've got booked for the weekend of Oct 15/16 from SYD-CNS ;) )
Doesn't that make it difficult to manage? I struggle with one return flight/week and I know you fly a lot more than I do.

Got a few things in place to help track everything: spreadsheets, entries in calendar, My Flights app. Data entry can take some time, but I just view that as a business admin task. Fortunately, I haven't had anything go askew just yet.

I think flexi fares would be slightly easier to manage because of the ability to change almost at will. I find managing my bookings on rededeals and savers takes a lot of effort, mainly because I have to commit to flying at that time. Flexis don't require a similar commitment to a fixed flight.

Do tell! I'm with JohnK on this.....I get confused enough as it is. Your profession is not by any chance a juggler?

Surely if changing long-dated flexis last minute you would run into some substantial fare differences?

Yes, sometimes. But there are tricks. Just last night for instance, I tried changing a flexi for Sat to Sun....same flight time but Sun had zero saver and just 2 Flexis left....in a higher fare class! The change would not go through on line (temorary error) so I rang the call centre and was told the change would cost me $90 .....what a con as the difference between what I had paid and what was showing on line was less than $60. As the change could not be done on the net, I shouldn't incur a GCC fee. I ended up changing to a later Sun flight for no fare tax and doing a fly ahead on the Sun so got the flight I wanted for no extra. Due to the flight being full, between the checkin desk and the lounge, I decided to upgrade to J as I knew there would be no shaddow!

Not particularly as you'd still have to buy another fare. In 5 years I've had 2 experiences where I get sick (gastro) suddenly within 24 hours of a saver fare....... Now, I've had this situation twice in 5 years, so it's a pretty rare occurrence. I also buy saver fares because the cost of changing a couple of flight every few years is more than covered by the money saved buying the cheaper fares.

I can't fully remember, but I think we had this same disscussion many years ago when I said I couldn't see tha benefit of flexi over saver (they were called something different back then). I did a comparison and for me (where flights do change frequently) over a twelve month period and I still worked out it was cheaper to buy the base level fare and forfeit it when needed. I now buy flexi only becauese the cheese and kisses likes platinum and many of my 120+ flight are charters with no SCs! :(

EDIT: Terribly sorry for all the spelling errors......I was racing as my flight had been called and I didn't proof read!
