DFW-LHR redemption using QFF points

Would you be offended if I suggest flying into Gatwick instead of Heathrow? I know it's not as fancy an airport as Heathrow but there tends to be quite a bit of hidden availability flying there. For instance, redeeming Singapore miles you can fly Lufthansa between Dallas and Gatwick for ~30,000 Krisflyer miles each way:
Except this thread has QFF Points in the title.

Whilst I appreciate that QFF points is in the title, the author did mention that they had 320,000 AmEx membership rewards points they could use which I think transfers over at a 2:1 rate to Singapore Air meaning they would have 160,000 SilverKris miles and could technically make the booking for 4 passengers using those points. All I'm doing is merely pointing out this option should QFF not materialize which based on the discussion thus far seems to be the case (yes there is availability out of Denver but this would require the OP to transport themselves and their colleagues to DEN and deal with all the logistics there versus a direct trip to LGW from DFW).

I should also point out to the author that (and correct me if I'm mistaken here) the only way to get between the US and Europe is on a partner like American, British Airways, WestJet, etc. As I'm sure we're all aware, partner bookings with QFF can be problematic, especially in the event of schedule changes. Now look, I'm no expert on SilverKris bookings, but what I can say having made Star Alliance bookings across multiple FFPs is that schedule changes and cancellations have always been handled smoothly with partners. Maybe it's due to the StarNet booking engine, maybe it's individual airline policies. I would be curious to hear how Singapore treats customers whose tickets get cancelled or schedule changed in terms of service recovery.

In a word awful. We had F saver awards SIN-FRA in March. An A350 was subbed for the 777. So our F awards became J. I was very persistent in trying to get F awards back but even though many here gave examples to do so nothing worked including HUACA. Even found F saver awards SIN -CDG on the same day as our FRA flights and they wouldn't swap and not enough points to book those flights.

Told early on if I flew in J there would be no refund of the difference between F and J awards.

Finally cancelled in December. On line they didn't give an option for return of points saying the points had expired. Pointed out that my points total in March 2022 consisted of points transferred in November 2021 for the get *Gold promotion or March 2021 from transfer of my VA points so all would still not have expired. Finally last week had the taxes refunded but still no points.

PS Just received another email from SQ telling me they won't return any points. here we go again.

See earlier posts. Plenty of availability non-stop on BA (bookable via QFF) out of Austin and Houston driving distance from Dallas. Bit weird what’s going on in DFW.

I have read in another thread(s) issues with redeeming QFF points for reward seats on AA transatlantic flights - don’t know if that’s still the case, but there does appear to be a recent broader issue with (some?) AA rewards not appearing in QFF search. It was working fine a couple of days ago (I booked something and researched a couple of other domestic flight options) but now it’s misbehaving badly.

In the earlier comments, I was seeing BA flights but I don’t recall seeing AA from any of the airports I checked. Did anyone else see AA?

@Happy Dude - so have you been able to find a date that works and books the seats you wanted given the many options out there?

Not quite with QFF points @RichardMEL, as just couldn't quite get the dates or locations to work. Also the taxes were pretty nasty, except WestJet, and I couldn't find any AA flights. I remain completely bamboozled, defeated even, by the discrepancy in availability across carriers. QF must be the red-headed stepchild of OneWorld.

I also had virtually no success with intra-EUR flights too with options on the QF site just miserable and designed to inflict pain - lots of weird married segments (eg across carriers), overnight layovers (thanks but no thanks IB) and BA and AY seemingly chockers for the whole summer.

Anyhoo, very grateful - and impressed - with the suggestions here. Ended up using VA points REA-LHR via EWR. Low taxes but over the pond is on a 767.

So now we're driving clear across the continent, a Griswold-esque adventure, rather than in a loop from/to DFW. Now to scour the trip reports of what to see etc in 60 days coast-to-coast.
