Diamond Membership of Hilton Honors for Platinum Members

I achieved Platinum in December 2019 and was waiting till later in 2019 to activate the Diamond Membership offer with Hilton as I had some travel planned late 2020 and early 2021 to take better advantage of the Diamod status.

I only thought of it again in mid April and activated the offer on 16 April 2020 which was before the administrators were appointed the email included " Hilton Honors will be in contact with you by email to complete your membership in up to 20 business days, so please ensure you check your email account during this period, including your junk mail folder. If after this time you have not received any correspondence, please contact Velocity Frequent Flyer and we will follow it up on your behalf."

No word from Hilton Honors yet and I keep checking my status on the Hilton Honors with no change. I appreciate that 20 business days is not even close from 16 April but any thoughts on if I will get the Diamond Membership from Hilton? Probably no use for at least a few months but would be nice to get Diamond.

When you activate the offer. VFF has to contact HH and get then to honour their end of the bargain. Hostorically for many VFF members there seems to be a delay in the activation - either at VFF end or HH end.

HH diamond could be seen by VFF as a "redemption" (i.e. there is an offer from VFF/HH, and you want to redeem that offer) so I suspect its on hold.

Dont know if this is positive or not. Have checked my Velocity Account and it shows "You opted-in to the Diamond Elite tier of the Hilton Honors™ program on 16 Apr 2020 "

Cross my fingers that it is not seen as a redemption and that I will hear from Hilton Honors by 14 May being 20 business days that I have Diamond status - though I know that it is of no use at the moment.

When I previously activated the gold, I had to call Velocity when nothing happened after six weeks.

I could be wrong, but I doubt any money is being exchanged here. Hilton gets just as much out of this deal as Velocity does.

In any case, this isn't a redemption of Velocity points so the voluntary administration of VA shouldn't be what's causing the delay.

I reached Platinum in Jan this year and decided I would wait until I had travel plans for a Hilton stay. When I reached gold many years ago I activated the HH offer immediately and then did not use it for about 6 months which meant not enough nights to retain the status. Thus the reason not to activate the Plat offer this time.

Watching the VA saga unfold I decided that with no travel involving HH likely this year that there was no point in going for HH plat and would wait and see how things unfold with a VA2.

Even if this offer becomes null and void I'm not really concerned as International travel will be changed for ever.

It's a one time thing per level. i.e You can get HH Gold from VFF Gold once and once only and you can get HH Diamond from VFF Platinum once and once only. I've exhausted my 2.

In the early days it was repeatable. Get SG, have HH Gold for 2 years or so; drop down from VA SG then re-earn it, the offer would reappear and you could have HH Gold for a further 2 years or so.

After a few years, they stopped it.

I’m currently Hilton Gold but have the option to take the Diamond offer but totally forgot about it. I’ll sign up and wait and see what happens. I remember when I applied for HH gold it took a couple months at least to activate.

I logged on Hilton Honors tonight and saw that my status is now Diamond!

I can not see when my Diamond status expires but there is information on the website that Hilton are extending 2020 status to 31 March 2022 - hope that applies to me as well.

Have not received any confirmation email yet but welcome pack may come by mail.

I received gold HH membership on VA Gold for the second time last year. So it is doable.. but I did drop down to silver on both for 1 year in between, so that may have been the caveat.

Interesting. I take it you didn't have a year at Diamond, so perhaps two bites of the cherry is allowed or you have found a nice loophole.

I have received an email with membership overview and it shows that my Diamond Membership is until 31 March 2022 so happy that I will get some use out of it.

Mine didn't "activate" automatically, had to follow up with VA then shortly after the HH upgrade went through
