Did anyone else get a double status credits promo today?

Just talking to a old work mate and he was saying he rang qantas and said either give me double status offer or I will switch to virgin. They looked up his flying and believe it or not they gave him double offer so he would reach platinum by his roll over date.

I guess they are targetting people who may have had consistent travel patterns that have now changed due to VA - and other reasons.

I wonder if there are really that many more or we are just more aware of them?

I doubt that really happened. It's more likely that he was already offered it, and he didn't get the email/it went to his spam folder.

QF have never really cared about threats if you leave to another airline. Unless he was a WP1 (and an extreme one) I don't think they'd care.

People are targeted, it's not a for-the-masses promo. QF do seem to be offering more of them than usual though at the moment. Call me a conspiracist, but I think they may be a little concerned with VA ;)
If Qantas is concerned about VA then perhaps re-introducing Anytime Access may help! ;)

That's what I find so concerning. Why is Qantas not targeting my demographic? Seems like intentional discrimination...

I received the Perth to East coast offer last month, Does any one think that its plausable that QF would know that in the last 3 months i've flown with Virgin Perth to East coast at least 10 times. Just thinking as i book flights on an NAB Qantas CC.
(The half price upgrades was what swayed me)

Go check the conditions of the NAB Qantas CC. Almost certainly they have all your purchase data. Also, click stream data from various tracking cookies may also have identified you. Qantas targets it's offers on a lot more detail than just demographic and Qantas history. Personally, I always thought that the Perth to East coast offer was aimed at FIFO workers. If you made any associated flights from regional WA, then that would also have showing on Qantas marketing radar.

Perhaps your demographic is not relevant to QF's interests...

Someone who is flying so in-frequently (not saying you are as you don't mention what FF status you have) is not on their radar. Someone that flys moderately and consistently, who then suddenly ceases to do so, is obviously going to set off alarms for them, if they've been previously profitable to them.

As we are not in their marketing or customer retention teams, we'll not know exactly, but there is method to their madness (so "Trevor" told me last year).
