Bugger Cathay Pacific had a ticket blunder on New Year's day and was selling $20k first class tickets for $990 economy tickets prices and honoring them!

I managed to snag HAN-HKG-YVR in J x 2 and HAN-HKG-JFK in F x1. Not sure where to credit but the above advice sounds good. The complication is that crediting to QF will qualify me for platinum for the first time. Tough decision but a first world problem

If you decide to go for it, congratulations on reaching Plat for the first time.

( I think pretty much most things on here are about first world problems, so no need to mention it. ;))

I'll credit the longs to AS which, if I still have no status by then, will I think earn me 56k points 16144 x 3.5, if I've done it correctly). Alaska only requires 50k for Australia-North America in J one-way or 60k Australia-HKG return in J. Or you could credit to Qantas where a Platinum would earn 37.5k - or enough for a return flight coast-to-coast, in Australia, in Y. Oh, the decisions!

Actually, the earning on QF isn't as good (!) as that. I was looking at the route as if it was a AA code but being on CX I wouldn't even earn enough points for a Perth-Broome return in economy!

Good work in snagging a ticket Danger. The Oz-US is actually 55K AS miles. Not a biggy considering your fare earns just over that amount.

Thanks for that. I'm still getting my head around AS but I'm hoping it will be the start of a long and productive relationship.

I managed DAD JFK and eco from HK to DAD on return which i will throw away for $A1196.
shame i will already be plat QF and no way for P1 so may try to get comp elite on AS and prk them there.

I'll probably just credit to QF for the lifetime status credits.

Does anyone know if a VN operated flight, with a CX number, will earn as CX on QF? Funnily enough I can't figure it out because it's too 'simple and fair'

With flight number/metal cross-alliance flights you can usually only claim on the flight number's scheme

Nope. Must be on OW metal. Checkout wheretocredit.com to find another home for them.

The horror! The points will be homeless! Won't credit anywhere of use to me. No scaryteam points for me.

Oh well the 240 QFF SC each way on the long leg will sooth the horror ;)

Maybe credit them to Schmelta in hope of building enough points for a Virgin redemption one day?
