Different availability for re-booking vs new booking?

A Qantas oneworld award by definition IS a classic award.

Not all Qantas classic awards are oneworld awards.

Check the T&C's.
A Qantas OneWorld award requires you take flights with two OneWorld carriers other than Qantas (i.e. British Airways or AA).

A "oneworld Classic Flight Reward" is a type of Classic reward. To put it another way, it is a subset of rewards defined as Classic Rewards.

There is no such thing referred to in the Qantas Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions as a "Qantas oneworld Award".

There are currently nine references to "oneworld Classic Flight Reward" in those terms.

The web page you linked to is headed "Classic Flight Rewards Tables | Qantas Frequent Flyer". Within the section you directly linked to there are five references to "oneworld Classic Flight Reward" or "oneworld Classic Flight Reward" or "oneworld® Classic Flight Reward". Again there are no references to "oneworld Reward".

Within the specific content of the T&C's there is the following precise definition:

14.5 Classic Flight Rewards - oneworld Classic Flight Rewards booking conditions

14.5.1 A oneworld Classic Flight Reward is a Classic Flight Reward Itinerary that includes travel on at least two oneworld Member Airlines other than Qantas and does not include any travel on any airline that is not a oneworld Member Airline.

Just to complete this thought out. A Qantas classic award is a fixed priced award that is based on distance travelled. The classic award may be operated by a OneWorld partner like AA or even by Qantas itself, but it can also be operated by non-OneWorld partners like JetStar, Air France, China Airlines, LATAM, etc. Indeed, PointsHack has a good article which covers the various options including how the pricing is different for them. For instance, classic awards operated by JétStar tend to be the cheapest in terms of points, followed by QF and its preferred partners like AA. Again plenty to go into here.

But to the original point, which I brought up was that since the ticket the OP booked was presumably not a OneWorld award (i.e. a classic award which has QF and at least two other non-Qantas OneWorld partners operating flights), then the restrictions tied to a OneWorld award won't apply. For instance, the requirement that you do not have any stopovers in Australia.

Did it end up getting ticketed or did it drop off? I have the same situation, tag flight is there but unconfirmed / pending.

Qantas have said:
I have sent the flight to our Yield Management department to review, it is currently on request basis only in your booking.

If they are unable to confirm your preferred flight in the existing booking, you will need to book it as a separate flight booking.
Just an update on this, followed up with another email a few days ago and this morning (Sunday!) I received a call from a landline, which I declined as I assumed scam, they left a message, which I didn't listen to.

About 10 mins later, same number called again, I picked up this time and it was Qantas calling to tell me the flight is now confirmed, just need to pay the taxes.
Happy days!

I was so shocked I didn't ask many questions, so not sure if it someone from yield management or elsewhere. Definitely sounded onshore though.
