Dilemma: would you upgrade?

Sod the inlaws I say, let them sit up the back with all the riff-raff. What have they done for you lately. ;)

As a male saying that, they might deprive you of your rights to reproduce. ;)

Since when does BNE Int have an F lounge?

They have a smaller room which is separated from the J Lounge. This is called the F Lounge in BNE, with pretty much the same food as the J Lounge. Just quieter and not as good a view (you get to take in the car park and domestic terminal).

Hmm, only let us live with them for 7-8 weeks after we moved out of our house due to the January floods (and being our 3rd flood in 2 years, I didn't want to move back in). And they're excellent babysitters! :)
But I guess we are being their European tour guides, so we should be well rested for the trip. :p

Update: The ILs flew to SIN on Friday, on QF5, and scored a points upgrade to J. We meet them at Changi tonight for QF31 to LHR, and their points upgrades to J are through. :D

Katie,I am an orphan so I love treating my inlaws to the full on special treatment.
We start with the limo to the airport, always J tickets,QF special handling help and off they go. We meet them at the other end with the limo.
Now that they are 88 and 85 it is inspirational to see a couple who have been married for 62 years be so close.
Nothing lasts forever but you can make time slow down by showing you care.

That is a beautiful attitude, cove! Made me smile.

I know you have had a great outcome, Katie, but FWIW if I could (easily) afford to upgrade my parents or even my ILs (when I have them), I would probably do it. I have had one op-up to J (HKG-BNE on CX) and I felt pretty spesh. I guess a lot of people here find it standard practice getting lie-flat seats and drinkable wine, but for a first-timer it was a great end to a long trip from LHR! :D

If it were a stretch for me to pay $14k to upgrade - which it most certainly would be at this stage in life - I would obviously leave them as is. Anyway if you are already in a separate class, you aren't exactly "abandoning" them I guess... :?: Just keep the post-flight debrief, well, brief! ;)

This reminds me of a flight I took back in 2003 (MEL-LAX) in First.

An elderly couple, most likely of a similar age, were taking up a pair of the middle seats. Holding hands throughout the flight, stealing a sneaky kiss off each other here and there. Was so sweet to see a couple so obviously very much in love.

Gotta give us some hope in this mixed up world:)
