My cousin arranged something, and we were able to go through the entrance, foyer and shops last week. We were the only guests. It’s going to be absolutely spectacular!

Also: We stayed at that Movenpick in Aswan on Elephantine Island (the one lit up in your photos). It was really beautiful with a fantastic pool.

…and finally, the Movenpick Mena Hotel in Cairo which was 700 metres from the pyramids. Would highly recommend as a great hotel and good location.

If you are going to Jordan, you absolutely must go to Wadi Rum. An experience not to be missed. We hired a car in Amman and drove to Petra, Wadi Rum & Aqaba.

Great trip report. Thank you.

What a shame you didn’t really get to experience Wadi Rum. We stayed in a camp overnight, quite a long way in. Spent the next day exploring and climbing massive dunes and rocks and taking some great video and photos.

It is a magnificent place. So incredibly quiet, especially at night and so stunningly beautiful. The sky was crystal clear and deep blue against the red mountains.

I’ve just watched The Martian again (filmed here) to take me back!

Could almost be my favourite place on earth.
