In previous years, I was able to call Citibank and get 50% off the annual fee.
This year, however, it's a hard no.
Has anyone had any luck getting the annual fee reduced?

I hate to brag but, I have 2 citi cards including this one, and they emailed me (proactively) saying they would refund me the annual fee.

I was planning to close both, but now I guess no point.

Maybe you’ve been talking to the wrong person. Just the one phone call? If so, nothing to be lost with HUACA?

Lucky you. Probably I will wait to see what happens...

I made few phone calls and were told the same thing. :(:(

Just out of curiosity, are you spending much on the card itself or not really and just holding onto it? I'm trying to think what the reason could be, I suspect it must have something to do with engagement either in their special offers, spending - some combination of these things.

I was charged the fee a week ago and am now calling to cancel the card. They offered $50 off the annual fee of $700 to stay (ridiculous) but are refusing to refund the fee (and cancel the card).

I'm on hold waiting to speak with a manager. Seems a little crazy given its a premium card...

Went to a supervisor...no dice. Time to email the advocacy unit
Sorry to hear. Something has changed. I'll have to cancel the card before the annual fee gets charged.

I barley use this card. It was easy to get 50%off previously

This is a total guess based on nothing, but I think this is based on your spend, so the more you use it, I suspect the more likely they are to refund the annual fee.

Been having this card for almost 2 years. Have tried speaking to their CS for a discounted AF but no luck whatsoever , most is $50 discount nothing more. Had to cancel this card before they slap the AF. Been using this card as my primary up until the day i cancel so hope it shed some light on this data point.

Emailed the customer advocacy unit. Zero auto reply or acknowledgement of email. Will give it a few days then email AFCA.
