What you are planning will work. You just need to check the hotel accepts them. There is a list on their website. Just tell the front desk you want to use them. You can use in Aus/NZ I think.

The restriction is that you can only use them against post-paid rates at the hotel, not pre-paid rates.

their website seems to be down at the moment. How do i check which hotels are available with the gift card?

Great post, I would love to take advantage of this offer, but it doesn't apply to the destinations where I will be staying.
I was going to ask same question. Won't work for me either.
