Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Well, Seamus is in disgrace at daughter's. He is about 11 and a 'very big boned' cat (i.e. lazy and fat) and he managed to catch a bird this morning, a cute native pardalote. Daughter retrieved said bird (remember she is on crutches after hip surgery a week ago) and placed bird in shoe box. Went to check on it later and it flew out so she had to chase it around the house to catch it again. Father went round to assist and carefully carried box outside, chasing cats off as he did, opened the box and.....it was empty. They think (hope) it sneaked out when they were opening the back door and preoccupied with cats.
Poor Seamus. He is in the dog house as they say.

Watched A Street Cat named Bob last night. Very cute.:)

I have a real scaredy Cat. Neighbours daughter was bouncing her basketball, he dashes over the fence. Currently in hiding. I guess when he gets hungry, we will see him again.

After watching the trailer I would definitely need to be alone with a big box of tissues to watch this

Update on my diabetic cat for those watching at home. He's settled into the new house fabulously, and the first vet I went to was fantastic. We've been hitting him hard with the insulin - started at 4 units twice daily. Now 0.5 units twice daily, taking it down to once daily now. His sugars haven't been higher than 8 for, well, months probably. Let's see if we can't get him off it entirely! Luckily my workmates and Dad have become quite adept at administering the insulin when I'm away ;) Haven't had to board him at the vets yet but that option is always there.

Vet (and I) think he got a bout of pancreatitis which as it resolves, his insulin requirement is dropping. I've also changed the cats' diets (non diabetic cat eats like a bird so she doesn't care!) - basically mainly tinned food, in particular low-carb varieties. But always have dry food available in case his sugars get low and he wants some tucker.

Obligatory photo! I don't think he's quite got the hang of which railings he can sit on yet ...

Puss seems a little unco there. k_sheep! It's a funny photo.
Good news on the way puss has managed the move and new vet and how his diabetes is so under control. Terrific.

That's great news on the diabetes management!

We are not making headway here. His levels are still high but we are a bit stuck - he drops too low on 3 units but 2 units is helping but not bringing it down enough.

So we are staying on that for now. Vet will have another play with levels in a couple of months when he goes to stay for a couple of weeks. He's otherwise good within himself so we are letting him be.

Mmm and it starts getting very dodgy with dosing when you look at half units, 2.5 would be tough to get accurately. Hope you guys get it dialed Milboo.

We're lucky in that I can do his glucose curves, so don't need the "hospital" stays to do them. He even jumps up to the bench where I prick his ears on command! (though I think it's because of the treats he gets after the jab ....)

And yes he is not a graceful creature. Has had 2 fairly big falls in this place that we've witnessed so far, close to 4m each. Still better than when he fell out of the tree at the old house, at least 7m up - he was a ginger kitty for a few hours after that  Straight back up the tree a few days later though.

He doesn't sound a wonderfully bright cat that learns from his experiences then. But, I am sure he is lovely (as are all pusses) :)

Nope, dumb as a hatrack. But very loveable.
One of daughter's cats is thick as a brick. It took her well over 6 months to work out the cat flap. She would watch Seamus walk through the flap then walk into the window. When that didn't work, she would just sit there and look at him outside. Even our old Patsy learns to go use it within a week or so when she went to live with daughter (and the cat was 18 years old and had never seen a cat door before).

I can't find the pic, but their was a Cat who was meowing to get in despite the sliding door being open i.e Open left side but Cat sitting on right behind two panes of glass.

But found this one funny.
