Discussion on Ukraine situation 2022

Certainly definite signs that the Ukraine situation has improved. Al Jazeera reporting that Wagner troops are in control of Rostov -on -Don, Voronezh and Donetsk city.

He’d kill his mum if it suited.
Well it depends… he and his company are mercenaries, so really there’s a price for everything.
Wagner didn’t independently decide to operate in Africa, Syria or even Ukraine: they were paid by the Russian government to go places and do things. That doesn’t make them all Han Solo but it helps understand why they’re doing what they’re doing and what has been one of Prigozhins motivations.

This may actually be being coordinated behind the scenes by Putin. For a long time now he’s needed an off ramp that allows him to maintain his position within Russia, maintain his strongman image, but extricate himself from what was probably supposed to be a quick jaunt into Ukraine and install a puppet government. Notice that Wagner is going after the ministry of Defence and the senior generals. He’s constantly blamed them for telling lies to Putin and the Russian people. Maybe he takes them out, or severely weakens them enough for Putin to then come riding in as the saviour of stability of Russia, throw all his generals under the bus (or out of a window…) and suddenly Wagner falls in line with what Putin wants and he’s still in charge. Who knows, very little about the past year and half has made any sense.

EDIT update: After seeing a translation of Putins video where he called on the people of Russia to resist the coup, I can safely say that it was not being coordinated to make Putin look good. He was scared of what was happening and appeared to genuinely want Wagner to be stopped. When it came to the ultimate choice, he backed his senior military team rather than scapegoating them.

No please no, leave us Poles out of direct conflict.
Just needless deaths in war.

Think I prefer previous poster option.
Bomb the baddies
I’m really close friends with a few Polish lads and one of them has a son who went back to Poland 4 years ago to serve in the Army and his other son went back 6 months ago to also join up.
He speaks to both sons as often as he can and the general feeling is they are very keen to enter the fray and claim some land they believe is theirs

Some other highlights from today:

Free Russia Legion (a few weeks ago): We invaded Belgorod!
Wagner Group: Hold my vodka…

Wagner has stopped the march to Moscow and returning to their camps.
Guardian reports that Prigozhin has agreed to move to Belarus after a discussion with the Belarus president. russia has said all charges will be dropped. Prigozhin has already left Rostov.
So will the Wagner troops go back to the fighting inside Ukraine?

Surely one of the more bizarre days in modern history.

Havent the ones involved in the attempted coup been banished to Belarus?. In which case Russian Army will be seriously depleted and there may be more clarity about the whole situation amongst Russian people. In any event Prigozhin needs to stay away from high rise windows, lift wells, cars, have a food taster and well, he's a goner.

Or does the relocation to Belarus happen to get them geographically closer to the Ukrainian capital and potentially distract from, or "justify", a mass migration of Wagner Group fighters from eastern Ukraine to Belarus to prepare for a southern move towards Kyiv? I hope not, but the truth is rarely conveyed accurately in any "media release" from either the Kremlin, Russian MOD or Wagner Group.

Or god forbid, the attempted coup was a huge con job to do exactly as you say.

Think it's just Prigozhin going to Belarus, not his forces.. it appears he will have Yes or at least more friendly men installed in the MoD so he effectively now controls the Russian Army and Wagner.

He's just out of Moscow for face and political reasons. Also no doubt helps keep Lukashenko and Belarus in check.
