Hi all,
I'm after some advice on the cheapest way to obtain 280SCs to retain platinum. Apart from OOL-MEL-AKL return booked on a Qantas Busines Sale fare which would earn exactly that at $6/SC, are there any other more cost effective measures? Travel can be from anywhere in Aus to anywhere else is in the world and return. Flying preferably in the last week of August.

Cheers.

I've been searching myself and what you've quoted is the cheapest at the moment flying Qantas, departing Australia, and bookable on the QF website.

There is a post claiming a travel agent may be able to do better with an offline booking:
I suggested MEL-AKL-SYD-MEL-CBR-BNE-PER-BNE-CBR-MEL-SYD-AKL-MEL for 3486 AUD

You can do slightly better by finding cheap Jetstar fares with bundles but this will be a slow way of getting there with many overnight hotel stays required.

JQ does not credit to BA. This itinerary was built specifically targeted to BA as per my post and therefore the figure was in BA tier points not QF status credits.

I have already re-qual WP for 2024 ... however, I have at least 3x o/s trips to India coming up. Looking at some ideas for a status run ... was looking at some MEL/OOL/SYD/BLR/MAA runs ... but it's getting a bit boring .. same old transit points .. anyone's got any ideas?

Will be doing some NZ runs in the new anniversary year, which isn't for another 6 or so months ... so not worried about NZ runs for now ...

If you've already requalified, what's the aim of the runs? Are you going for LTG? P1?

Hi all, looking for some booking help, Previously split flights between Virgin and Qantas but now mostly travel Qantas. Just dropped from Virgin Platinum to Gold due to less travel.

Might have a crack at Qantas Platinum but seems like a long shot.

Am Points Club Plus if that makes a difference.
Have 1m+ regular QFF points so can fare split to save on costs etc

Assuming you can get the 50 green tier and 50 loyalty, this leaves 503 status to hit plat. Without any DSC bonus, this likely means you're spending around $2500 - $3000 to hit that value at around $5-6 per SC only taking revenue flights.
This doesn't take into account any special sales or bonuses like DSC.

You could also supplement it with CR dom J flights. I find those convert roughly at 1000-1100 qff points + taxes to 1 status. The exception being SYD <> CBR <> MEL which they charge at SYD <> MEL rates but with higher taxes.

This should give you an idea on whether its worthwhile or not.

One positive is that we are level 3 qantas with work so get 10% discount on flights

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the discount only applied to normal fare prices and not sale / saver / red e-deal prices.

With status runs you should be aiming to get business savers. Business flex adds significant cost.

Some discount is applied on domestic e-Deals at L3, but not the full 10%, and not including the cheapest fare buckets.

I made gold in 2019 and have been status extended every year since. I have just rolled into my new years membership July 1 and expecting 100 Status from Points club plus and 166 from last years flights rollover, 50 from green totaling 316 leaving 284 to go to retain gold for 2025.
Right now having one J booked point points SYD-BKK (48 more) i need to up my flying.

I am planning a paid flight to shanghai on QF in economy (40) and BKK - SYD for 40 more but at 800-900 each way its looking like im paying close to $20 bucks per status point. I am seeing above some people getting their status for $5-6 so what gives? guessing asia flights arent any good value.

Looking for ideas, please: cheapest 205 SC ex-SYD by the end of October.

Alternative departure points can also be NTL, OOL or BNE. A day trip is ideal but I can spend 1-2 nights, if the dates work out well. Not a member of PC/PC+ (or if I am, haven't looked into that).

Without checking dates, Sydney to Cairns or even Mount Isa as you can get several flights in on or two days. If you look at tourist routes they usually have sharper fares than business ones.

Howdy,

Long time reader first time poster - chasing cheapest 65SC Ex Syd - day trip ideal - in the next couple of weeks 🙏 having no luck :(
