Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I haven't read all your posts so may have missed something but do not that the elite status benefit for FF earning applies to QF and AA flights. It once applied to BA, but since the EK tie-up, it's no more.

The 50% was not a reference to elite status benefit, it was referring to the current 50% extra status credit earn, which only applies on Qantas flights.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Still trying to work out the best options in the USA for Feb. can go north to ORD, but want to avoid the weathe/possible delays if possible. Do people still head down too the Caribbean? I haven't looked at $/SC heading south yet...

Where do you plan to fly out of?

Trying to do the same :) Have $600 of AA vouchers so trying to figure out if one F (P) flight or multiple Y (most likely W) flights will be better and/or work with somewhere I actually want to go. Lowest P flights I can see are DFW-SEA at the moment, but seem to like the US airways pairs to/from CLT as they tend to both just hit the first "over 750" miles category.

MEL-CHC via SYD return on QF/EK in J. (QF to SYD then QF/EK to CHC) because it's on the one ticket it costs the same as a SYD-CHC but more SC. Just make sure you get QF flight numbers on each sector

I have the following travel booked:

LAX-NYE in Z booked as a ASA - 40SC??? The QF Calculator does not seem to show this route
NYE-LAX in Z booked as a ASA - 40SC??? The QF Calculator does not seem to show this route

Check airport code for NYE, as NYE is in Kenya.

There's a US run out of NYC for ~US$2.11/SC. Check the FT BA TP run thread.

dca-ord-mia-mco-mia-ord-dca

us$1.72/sc

That's a cheap one! Nice!

Edit: It seems I can only find it in March for USD 655 so USD1.92/SC. Still very cheap!

Gotta click through on the Matrix to actually get the YUP fares to show up. That may have been the issue. They should be bookable on AA. Sample date: Inbound 3/2 Outbound 4/2. 8 hour stop in MCO (so you may want to get a hotel or just chill in MCO but there isn't an AA lounge in MCO... I know :( ) and same plane back to MIA. $588 USD

Do you think there would be any issues in using my AA plat status to check-in and enter the lounge at SYD then ask them to change it as I leave the lounge? Do they have the ability in the lounge to re-print BPs?

Edit: You're right it seems like 2-3/2 are the only dates I've found that have the $588.... I guess they're probably scattered around.. GL with SCs!

In theory you have access to J check in desk and J lounge in SYD simply by showing your AA Plat card even if it's your QFF number entered in your booking. Unfortunately, it seems some lounge "dragons" have a problem with that... YMMV

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

You could make it BOS-ORD-MIA-MCO return for $781, priced based on Feb 3 and 4, us 1.72/SC delivering 440 in total.

I know that's more than you asked for though :)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Lounge agents can certainly reprint BPs and... selecting new seats, returning the lost exit rows, change FF number...

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

What, if like me, you didn't want to go to the USA?

it's worth noting that I have decided not to renew my QF Gold status, but have renewed my EK gold status. There's a message there if you can find it.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi All,

Looking for some pointers to attain Platinum Status. I'm currently SG and require 425 SC to attain WP by 31 March 2015. I have been offered +50% SC until the end of this week and have a single trip booked from SYD-ADL return earning 30SC so 395 to go! Will probably have another 2-3 domestic return flights to VIC / SA for work over this period (20SC x 2/3 in discount economy) so potentially down to 355 / 335 excluding additional activity.

I need to visit AKL for a week including the 18th Feb but have no other international travel (planned) between now and March. Could do another run to AKL if need be as I have family to visit there.

Would like to definitely get my AKL trip locked away during the +50% bonus period, I can bounce around domestically before heading to AKL provided that the overall trip isn't horrendously long. And any other legs that can be done in a weekend would be great.

Thanks,

Ian

I don't know how cost effective it is, but I noticed you can get SYD-MEL-BNE-CNS for $393 Red e-Deal or $774 in Flexi Saver (I picked dates in Jan-2015)

That would earn
Discount Economy : 10 + 15 + 15 = 40 * 1.5 = 60
Flexibly Economy: 20 + 30 + 30 = 80 * 1.5 = 120

I'm sure there are probably better earning rates out there.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Or if you can position to HBA, then you can get

HBA-MEL-BNE-CNS for $556 on a Flexi Saver. That gives: 20 + 30 + 30 = 80 * 1.5 = 120
