Disinfectant Spray on arrival at SYD

The only time we have been really scrutinised on a flight into Australia was one where the crew member servicing our area became really really sick during the flight. 😳

Ah yes, the days (up until the late 80’s IIRC) of FA’s walking down the aisles with a can of High Intensity Glen 20 in each hand! Unfortunately replaced by an ability to pump it through the aircon … just not the same!

Had this occur mid-flight from BOM to HKG many years ago. First I'd ever seen it, and haven't experienced it since.

There are three types of disinsection methods that are used to spray an aircraft on international flights.

1. Residual is carried out while no passengers are on board. The entire aircraft is sprayed with a residual insecticide that lasts eight weeks.

2. Pre-embarkation is carried out while no passengers are on board. Crew may be on board as this method is completed up to 40 minutes prior to passengers boarding the aircraft. The treatment lasts for the duration of the single flight.

3. On-arrival Cabin and Hold is an inflight spray of a non-residual insecticide, carried out once the aircraft lands and the treatment lasts for that one arrival. Upon arrival, biosecurity officer(s) will enter aircraft and have the door closed behind them. Spraying will be performed by either the cabin crew or the biosecurity officer. During disinsection and for a period of 5 minutes after the completion of the spray, the aircraft air conditioning must be switched OFF.

I noticed they did the spray between SIN and KCH two weeks ago on MH. I cannot remember them doing this before. There was no spraying on my other internal East Malaysian flights or from SDK to KUL.

I would be very surprised if sprays could be directly entered into the aircraft’s air conditioning system? Sounds like a potential threat to the safety of the aircraft!

It was actually very easy to implement, it’s just an extension of the chemtrail system … the pilot hits the ‘Recirc’ button.

Shouldn't/wouldn’t the filters take the spray out? I imagine the active ingredient needs some transport medium like a droplet to be effective.

Well obviously they insert the onboard chemtrail stream post-filter!

Also, segue back to thread topic … I just remembered this!

Touch down, touch down Tullamarine,
They sprayed me on the plane so I’d be real clean
Coming through customs,
I’ve been to Bali too.

we didn’t get the spray but had the liquid mat to walk through which was hilarious seeing some of the idiots walking through in their socks
Just landed at SYD from PVG Showbox jiofi.local.html tplinklogin on MU and I've been sitting here for a good 10+ minutes watching them spray disinfectant spray "according to directives" before we can even get up. I'm pretty sure I haven't experienced this on QFi. Is this a thing only for certain carriers / countries?
