Hi All,

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, I did a search but could find nothing.

I'm flying out on QF9 Thursday night and am wondering if anyone knows how much of delay I can expect at immigration as a result of strike action? The last time I did this flight Melbourne's immigration hall was full to bursting due to around 10 international flights leaving in the space of an hour, so I'm a little nervous.

This time I'm traveling with the family including a three year old, so the thought of further stress and delay before a 23hr flight does not appeal.

They have some electronic card readers working in the departure hall now, and they are very quick....as long as the strikers don't turn them off.

I'd plan on it being a total s**t fight.

I had this misfortune of coming in back through BNE during the last round of strikes. If that's anything to go by, they'll turn the smartgates off too. (I believe outbound there was also off). They're making a statement. I'll reserve my opinion to non-public places:)

They'd turn off the automated systems? They'll get automated out of existence altogether if they're not careful.

I thought I got away from this sort of nonsense when I moved out of London and away from the RMT!

Flying out of BNE INT tomorrow at 5:45pm, the strike is scheduled from 3:30pm until midnight. Not looking forward to it :(
