What are these flights? It is to my understanding that one plane makes a return trip from Sydney to Albury (1172 and 1173) then it makes a return trip elsewhere from Sydney, and then makes another return trip to Albury under DJ 1176 and 1177.

Hi there

It is my understanding that each city pair is given a flight number range.
For example MEL-SYD-MEL are numbered 801-899 with the lowest number allocated to the first flight of the day up to the highest number in the evening.

Northbound / Westbound flights get odd numbers while Southbound / Eastbound flights get even numbers.

There may be gaps in the sequence of flight numbers to allow for additional flights to be added to the schedule without altering all the other flight numbers.

Cheers
