I will turn gold as soon as the points post for the flight I took yesterday, but I'm guessing I'm better off booking as a silver (still get the free bags) and then when I get to gold, call them and ask them to re-apply it?
Or is there no point in doing that...

Yes, I'd call and get your Velocity number reapplied to bring gold status into your booking. It will open up the Space+ seats for you to pre-select.

EDIT: Sorry, just remembered the whole point of this discussion is booking VA codeshares. So no seat pre-selection. But having the gold status on your booking is still important, reports here are that NZ staff manually look for DJ status pax booked on the codeshares and manually give them decent seats.

Maybe put your DJ booking ref in here http://www.checkmytrip.com/ , usually it shows you the other airlines booking ref's (if available).

Check my trip only works if an Amadeus PNR exists.

VA only use Amadeus for their long haul flight bookings.

So not for domestic or short haul international.

CMT will cease working for VA altogether when their booking systems are integrated into SABRE early next year.

Hah - now I'm confused, cause I thought the OP of this thread found issues doing exactly that?
