Didn't see that flight, I had a quick look and forgot about HBA

Now I could say why are they keeping the lounge open for 2 hours just for 1 flight :p cost of that would be a few hundred thousand $$ per year....
Also DJ1693 from CBR-OOL at the same time, 7:45 p.m. So at least 2 flights! And (as they say) OOL has the highest per-capita number of Platinums...

As an armchair critic, I'd be moving all the flights back a little and have an 1830 departure from CBR-MEL, instead of a 1700
Does MEL still have the 1.45am MEL-DRW flight? I can't be bothered checking, but the Lounge stays open for that flight. I know from experience.

Or they call you and let you know that it won't if you're the only passenger with lounge access! They gave me a bunch of vouchers which were useless as everywhere to possibly spend them were closed. Carried them around for ages but never used them.

Double fail to me

Was just trying to think of other reasons the late evening CBR-MEL flight was cancelled.

In this case just poor loads and future bookings for that period I guess

Still no call or email to let me know about the much earlier departure and detour via SYD... Yet a few months ago they did email me several time to let me know about some doubled up bookings, of which I made under the old points/pay scheme.

Now the 8pm Qantas flights have jumped up by $41

Was going to book last night but there was heaps of fares at $109 and now they are $148

Thanks again Virgin

Looks like a number of people had the same idea as you did...... probably for the same reasons...

What ever happened to "Keeping the air fair"

If you check the current finances of both airlines according to a couple of hot threads around here, you might retract that statement quickly.

Which highlights even more why running routes at a loss isn't the smartest suggestion in the current economic climate.

While this is certainly an inconvenience, have you thought about ringing the call center? They will be able to cancel the booking and refund the entire amount you paid.

That would be too easy and he/she would have sweet FA to whinge and moan about on here.

Could this e190 be out of action for the new J seat re-fit? Considering it's only out for a few weeks?

I think it was said that it would resume again in October, so more than a few weeks.

Maybe one out until October, swap them over as they finish each one, completing all by October? Who knows.

Entry level fare on CBRMEL is about 140-150ish, $109 would have been a sale fare.A sale finished this week, that wud be the reason for the fare change, not I suspect DJ canx a flight.Give it a few days there will be another sale as sure as the sun comes up:)

Yep I can do that, and will do that for most of the flights, but it's an annoying change of plans that now ends up costing me $60 per flight more and it's in Economy and not Business :( A short flight I know but still, business is always nicer than Economy

Thanks for your valuable contribution to this thread

Well the "sale" that was running until the 10th of June, had the sale fares pulled for 01 Jul 12 to 30 Nov 12 for $99 fares...

Qantas no doubt have seen an advantage to make more revenue/profit so good on them in this case !

Maybe, but as per above they pulled the $99 fares early as the sale was meant to run until the 10th of June

I have already booked 4 flights, but will leave the other 4 til later.... It's only $200 all up but if it can be in my pocket I'd be happier

Just a computer generated email doesn't really cut it for me to be honest!

Considering they sent me 3 personalised (human written emails) about another bookings I have in the system, they can do it when they choose to!

These 3 emails were sent to me back in March for booking in August, yet they can't call me about bookings only 2 or so weeks away where I am negatively affected and may have missed my flight/need to change plans etc etc

Emails and SMS continue for all my cancelled flights

I have been flying this route for the past month now and the loads on the late CBR-MEL flight are quite high, at least 80-100 passengers per flight which is perfect for the E Jet's, full of Plat's and Gold's too and quite a few people in the lounge not happy about the changes and are flying Qantas over the next few months...

Again we can assume VA has done the maths
