Hello, newbie here, not really a FF question but I'm flying with Air New Zealand from BNE-AKL return next month. I plan on just taking carry on luggage for the 2.5 day trip. Do I need to do any manual check in or passport check at the Air NZ counter at Brisbane Intl. Airport? Or can I do it all online and go straight to security? I have an Australian passport. Thank you

Flying earlier this month on the same flights I online checked in through the airnz app (you need to load your passport details). HLO I only had to have my passport verified at the gate (both BNE and AKL).
I think this beats having to line up at the counter.

Do everything online then when you get to the airport just go straight through, down the escalator to security

You will have to have your passport sighted at some point, check-in, lounge or at the gate prior to boarding.
From memory you will be asked to step aside if you present your passport during the boarding queue.

Correct, I've always had mine checked when checking in to the lounge. Dont know where non lounge people do it

Best done at the gate a few minutes before boarding commences - otherwise the BP will be rejected when scanning to board, slowing things down.

It may also be possible to do this at the AirNZ lounge reception - tell them you are not looking to enter, just have you passport checked off.

I normally swing by a kiosk in Brisbane to get it done.

A couple of years ago when I had NZ*G flying business class out of Sydney I didn't use a kiosk and they didn't do it at the lounge so I got absolutely scolded by the gate staff as a attempted to board.

I don't get why NZ is so strict as QF (and EK across the tasman) on the other hand don't care and normally the first time they see my passport is just the normal sighting at boarding.
