Do the contents of the Business class Toiletry bags need to be in transparent bags for security?

Taking a few trips soon and will be collecting a few toiletry bags from J seats. Do the contents of the toiletry bags you receive from the airline need to go in a transparent bag when going through security?

I don't recall having to do so when I was in the US.

Normally yes for any liquids and gels, but not a problem in some countries (eg Singapore).

The toiletries bag I got on a recent SQ flight came with a resealable plastic bag inside the toiletries bag, I imagine to help if you wanted to take the contents thru a liquid scan on a subsequent flight

Interesting question/ never thought about it before.

Often don't even open the complimentary bag (gift it on to rellies or homeless etc) and just bung it in my suitcase; or backpack if consecutive sectors, without a second thought.

Haven't been tripped up yet, but guess there may always be a first time in the future

Can’t really answer the question without knowing the transit points.

For the most part, no they won’t be required to be decanted into plastic lag bag. But for any airports/countries that do still insist on LAGs being separately screened then yes they would need to come out.

For all practical purposes most of Europe/ USA/ ME/ Asia it’s a non-issue.
UK it’s depends on airport and even within that airport which terminal / checkpoint eg LHR.

Yeah normally I throw the toiletry bags I get into the checked in luggage on subsequent flights but thought I'd ask the question

You could. Or you could just put the whole kit on the tray if you think it’s going to be an issue.

I must say I have never even thought about the (possible) liquids in the amenity kit and have never opened it to put the liquids in the plastic bag!

Whatever the answer is, I've never put them in a clear bag and never had an issue.

In fact, these days, I'm so confused as to what's needed and which airport. Is it in the bag, out of the bag etc. All I can say is I've left my toiletries in my toiletry back in my hand luggage at PER, SIN, DEL and MEL (international) in the last few months and not had an issue.

Especially if transiting LHR.

Have been made to throw out the contents of an Amenity kit at T5 more than once as they were picked up during screening and wouldn’t fit into my existing LAGs.
Not an issue now at the First Wing as they have installed the new CT scanners, everything stays inside.

That’s why I’ve been careful not to say ‘never’! Although just last month we transited LHR T2 coming off SQ and connecting to SK. 4 x amenity kits in hand luggage, not in LAG bag, and not a word said!

Amazing how it can vary, at the same airport, given the likelihood they’re all the same staff?

Just went through the QF PER terminal today. This time they wanted toiletries out. I just took out my toiletry back (not clear plastic) and placed in a tray. That was acceptable

I have transited LHR with not one but two toiletries bags in the past but don’t recall any issues but I can imagine they could be sticklers - good news, aren’t UK airports dropping some of the LAG restrictions soon?

But otherwise, this question has poppped up every time I transit flying J. Never had an issue leaving the toiletries in my carryon. SIN, BKK, HND, HKG, DXB, AUH, DOH, LAX, SFO etc

Been through LHR four times in the last 18 months.

From memory, the first two times LAGS stayed in (T2 and T4->T5 connection) whilst the two recent times (over the last month) they had to come out of my backpack (T3 and T5 - Fast Track at business class checkin end of the terminal).

I had travelled a few times with quite a load of LAG, and on a trip SYD-xSIN-xLHR-... got pinged at LHR T3 for the amount. They security check agent insisted I put everything I want to keep in a ziplock he provided and the rest was binned.
OK, rules are rules, but the bag given was smaller than 1L. Cursing under my breath for a minute...

I've had at least 3 - 5 small bottles of various things in my backpack during screening for years now and not a single airport has called me out on it. EG moisturiser, sunscreen, hand sanitiser in hotel sized tubes.

This is across Australia/NZ, Asia, North America, Europe and Middle East.

Funny story about HKG and an EK amenity kit. I transited EK to QF in HKG, and my F amenity kit went through, in my carry on with no issue. Only to be pinged by security in MEL domestic because it contained an deodorant aerosol that I didn't even realise was in there.

I've never bothered repacking any liquids from amenity kits, and never had an issue. I also don't bother pulling things like small sanitiser bottles or covid test reagent tubes out, and never been pulled up on it. I think it's a case of better to ask forgiveness than permission.

Let's face it, the quart sized plastic bag rule is a usually quite flexible given at most airports it would be easy to put two through in separate trays without anyone realising they were from the same person. So in the worst case an extra clear plastic bag might be needed.

The disparate theatre of airport security is quite the epic saga.

I purchased a 100% plastic belt that is used by security officers and similar so they can move around without triggering systems. BNEi they demanded I take it off. ADL NRT AKL KUL DOH CMN CAI AMM HKT and many others no don't take it off.

Swabbing bags for powder etc is random right? Except stopped 5/5 in a row at MELd for a swab but never once at MELi or BNEi or BNEd.

Pre-pandemic I got swapped every second time in domestic security wherever I happened to be. Now it feels strange when it's only 1/10. International only a small fraction of times.
I hope there's a method to the seeming randomness so that they also do pick up things that shouldn't travel through the security.
