Re: "Bonus Confirmed Complimentary Upgrade"?

My postie is pretty good, I get the occasional letter for next door in my box (and one for my number, but three streets down!), but nothing worse than that.

OTOH, I am 4 out of 4 for wine deliveries, with explicit and clear instructions to place under the house (it's easy and clear where the under house door is in the driveway) being left on the front porch in the blazing sun or driving rain, open for anyone to knock off if they chose to do so! These all by an Aus Post courier. Advised a couple of the wineries, at least one of whom took it up with Aus Post, but it did not seem to make any difference. Very reluctant to order wine deliveries now.

Re: "Bonus Confirmed Complimentary Upgrade"?

Add me to the 'Inner Melbourne lazy posties victim club', I get the feeling the posties here just fill out the cards beforehand and just dump them without ringing a bell.

The worst part is they always force me to go to the North Melb PO (1km away) rather than the William St PO (~500m):evil::evil::evil:
The Errol St PO is my closest 'local post office' (the sorting centre on Spencer is a lot closer though). At least the parking up on Errol is better than William if you're driving.

Re: "Bonus Confirmed Complimentary Upgrade"?

I have the best Australia Post parcel delivery man ever! if i am parked in the PO car park when he is there, he will put it in the car for me. if it is small he will bring it to me at my coffee shop, if it is too big, he will tell me and ask if my daughter is at home to receive it for me. if the neighbours babies are asleep between 12-2pm, he will deliver their parcels to me instead. an elderly neighbour who can't get to his front door as he is disabled, his parcels come to me (i have a key for his house). The postie for normal mail is pretty good too. he gives me a wave everyday as he goes past, as i'm sitting in the front room as my office. Haberfield...........hats off for Mr. Khan the Parcel Man, we love him.

Re: "Bonus Confirmed Complimentary Upgrade"?

I had a bad run with a new AP parcel delivery guy. Parcel tossed over my back gate when I was home, one carded to a house across the street, and another delivered to a house up on the main road. All within the space of a week. Rang and complained and haven't had any issues since then (touch wood). The couriers I use know me well enough that they often leave deliveries in my back yard which is helpful.

Re: "Bonus Confirmed Complimentary Upgrade"?

Australia Post absolutely s#@s in my eyes, at least in the inner city areas (Surry Hills/Darlinghurst, in my case). Never takes responsibility either- 3rd party contractors, bla bla. Who outsourced to these in the first place I wonder?

Funnily, these days I get my stuff send to my work address out in the burbs (Parrammatta area) and there I've never had any issues. Oh yes, and the mail guy seriously speaks English out there as well

Re: "Bonus Confirmed Complimentary Upgrade"?

For some reason I can't get letters from Geelong. I've had a couple sent to me that were perfectly addressed but for some reason were marked address unknown and returned to sender. Yet sent from elsewhere they arrive.

A real mystery.

If you live within range of one of the AusPost Parcel Lockers, sign up for the trial. It's brilliant...Parcel Lockers - Australia Post
After a parcel you get delivered there is processed, you receive an SMS and an email with the details and a PIN you enter to pick it up.
You can then send anyone to pick it up on your behalf.

They accept any delivery company - couriers included. The only exception which will cause problems here is wine!

Re: "Bonus Confirmed Complimentary Upgrade"?

Same same but different - purchased a gift card at local PO to post to Sydney - offered insurance for what was basically a letter - declined as it was basically a letter - it didn't arrive - talking to several friends after this experience it is amazing how many gift cards, cash etc don't make it to their destination - where do they all go?

Probably into some postal workers pocket

I also use AP for my online business and I think I've been really lucky so far. In 2 1/2 years the only parcel to go "missing" was one that was delivered to me instead of the recipient. Apparently its hard to distinguish between "to" and "from"...

I did have a trial account for this in St Kilda when I used to live there. I'm now trying to sign up again to get another location, and keep getting 'email address has not been validated' even though i've clicked the link in the email that says 'welcome back click here to sign in'. They can't even get that right (although I agree the lockers are a great idea).

Re: "Bonus Confirmed Complimentary Upgrade"?

What's grinding my gears is delivery companies leaving parcels on my door step. I live on a main road so people could easily knock it off. They seem to forget that most theft is opportunistic.

Do you live in an area where the post folk can't read english?

Isn't that everywhere? Well, maybe not EVERYwhere.

We had one AP guy (contractors did parcels in our area, as opposed to the normal posties leaving cards), who used to take one look at our long uphill driveway and card the mailbox. Lazy b***ard.

After a few complaints he "moved on" and the new guy would see me in the street and let me know what he had on board for me.

I watched in horror/amazement as the Aust Post delivery woman drove up my driveway and threw my package from the driver's seat towards my front door (landed a metre short of my front door). How I wish I'd been quick enough to record this on my iPhone!

My Postie is Ok as I'm 200m to the PO. On the other hand my Star Track Express driver is fantastic, if there is nobody at my factory he will keep an eye out for my car at home as its later on in his delivery run and will stop and deliver it there. He has even seen me at the local shops and we've done a package handover on the footpath. Love Star track express very reliable.

Re: "Bonus Confirmed Complimentary Upgrade"?

Interesting you say that as it was Star Track Express, the oh so "smart" delivery company, that once deposited a parcel which was clearly marked "Apple Computers" out the front of the house in Redfern for all places

That's when I learned that Redfern is better than its image because the parcel was still there when I got home!

Re: "Bonus Confirmed Complimentary Upgrade"?

Right. Now i'm pissed off. Just checked the office mailbox in the lobby on the way back from lunch (we often get two deliveries of mail a day here it seems and this was the afternoon delivery).

2 letters with an elastic band. in the middle? A 'missed you' card (the red one). not registered post. Just a 'called whilst you were out' card.

F&*$ing Australia Post!

Yes, the parcel lockers are a godsend. I hope as many people as possible whom have access to them use them - to force Australia Post to roll them out as far and wide as humanly possible.

Yes, they can be a right pain in the cough. All I can advise you to do is complain, and complain often. As annoying as it may be to spend 15min on the phone to AusPost making the complaint, I can attest that these do get results.

And when you do complain, make sure to use the phrase "this poor level of service is inconsistent with not only Australia Post's customer service charter, but also the stated objectives of your companies own CEO". That gives the guys on the phone the message that you're in tune with what the company is aiming for, and surprisingly is more likely to result in a positive outcome.

I had about 12 months over a year ago now where the parcel carriers operating out of one local depot were taking the mick. A few complaint phone calls with constructive feedback, and now there's never a problem with my eParcels or that of anyone else in the building and the local area - as the delivery drivers really make the effort to buzz the apartments before delivering them for collection to the right post office.

Sadly, the same can't be said for my local delivery centre whom I'm now 12mths into a battle to press the buzzer like they're supposed to. The street delivery team who operate on bikes refuse to press the buzzer for any signature required letters and will always leave a collect card. Worse, the collect card is for the DC and not the nearest post office, meaning having to go out of my way to sort it out.

Case in point was some estate planning documents for my housemate coming from the UK. These were being sent fastest postage possible with signature required - but the blasted mail carrier couldn't be bothered to see if someone was home. The DC is only open at stupid hours (9-4:30 weekdays only), meaning I had to rush over there on a lunch break to get it. Needless to say, the DC staff are being given a right royal roasting over this.
