My wife has fallen ill (doesn't look like anything major... but uncomfortable none-the-less). Has anyone had experiences with seeing a Doctor in Tokyo? I'm about to go ask the concierge but thought I'd check here first!

I think the hotel concierge is the best bet for finding an English speaking doctor. Hope eveything turns out OK

Thanks. Supposed to be going to Disneyland today (tickets already purchased), but we'll see.. :(

Travel Insurance usually includes a doctor referral service.

Good luck with it all. (and yeah travel insurance or concierge is where I'd be looking for advice)

No point pursuing TI route, AMEX Plat Charge's updated clause about existing conditions (ear infection!) cancels that one out. Concierge it is.

Best bet is to try and talk to the concierge and see if they can help you. You might have to go to a major hospital where I suspect there will be doctors there who can understand some English.

Remember to be patient with the doctor (pun intended). I'm not staking that they will be conversant in English, but they should know enough to help you.

Let us know how you go. Take care!

She has decided she'll see how it goes today (it's not too bad atm) and we'll reassess tomorrow/Monday.

However.. it seems there may be something else to worry about!

North Korea reportedly warns Japan it would target Tokyo first | Fox News

Strangely enough Japan was an early adopter of the Aegis BMD system with three warships, and the US has 10 in the vicinity with similar capabilities, if any missiles get through that then the metro deployed Patriots should be a good backup ( there is a PAC3 in the defence ministries courtyard operational).

Earlier this year I had to visit a hospital in Furano, Hokkaido, with a suspected fracture.
A Kiwi hotel staff member told me the doctor's English would enable him/her to diagnose my injury and advise on treatment but they probably would not be able to hold a conversation with me.
He was spot on... and the care provided was exceptional. (And such a bargain!)
