thanks for the information. It is interesting that fare buckets are used. considering when you purchase say a flexi saver or red e-deal that allows upgrades or a super saver and that there can be many classes in those buckets, how do they work which class is above another. Also to note that it is impossible to purchase a Y class economy ticket on line, even if you select fully flexible for int'l flight it will never assign a full Y class. But on domestic they class flexi saver and fully flexible as full Y for SC earn. a bit of double stds there to save them paying out more SC.

what red e deal allows upgrades??

So do you think it matters re //qff number digits, serfty, if all other factors are equal?

cheers spruce
Look at the threads linked to above - it seems that years of membership may be the third breakdown if same Status and booking class. Your //qff number digits may have a strong co-relation to time of membership but I would think Qantas would have a "Join Date" recorded on the profile.
what red e deal allows upgrades??
Those that do not book into N, O, Q, E and reward classes.

e.g. Transpacific there are "Sale" fares which tend to book into O and Q classes and hence are not normally upgradeable. There are also "red e-deals" which seem to book into S or V class for which points upgrades can be requested.

Interesting Sefty, I was always under the belief that Red E deals / sales were always N,O,Q,E and I dont believe or recall that I have ever had S or V on sale. I guess you can review the class of fare before purchasing. I must pay more attention.

I am off to the states on a pacific sale fare, I dont expect to be upgraded but have been WP for some time and have previously had a large spend in the pointy end, was CIP and QF always allocate excellent seats for me. But you never know with the UG Gods.......

Thanks for the updated product knowledge.

Cheers
