I will head to LAX this month on QF11 in J but i would love to discover the F, so i will try an upgrade by points. I tried to check it on Expert Flyer but it doesn't appear.

Is there no F, A or P class showing on E/F? I mean, not even F0 ...

Hi Serfty

There is no F, P or A. Normally, there is the F, P and A and 0 behind but on these flights nothing except J and D. Weird isn't it ?

What dates are you looking at? For 16 - 23 July I can F and A availability every day. I can see no P availability on any of those days.

It's weird because i can't see the QF11 and QF12 on E/F Award & Upgrade Availability Search may i didn't use it properly

That will only show U and P availability though.
As Simongr said, there is no P availability showing, but there is F class and A class.
S,there are first class seats on the flight, just none in the upgrade/award bucket

Check Flight Availability showing all classes

Is NM doing your typing?
Hey, it's a two word anagram :p

That implies there is no First Class service planned for that flight.

However, looking at you search, you should be using "Flight Availability", not "Rewards & Upgrades".

First class fare buckets (F, A, P) appear to exist on every QF11 from July 15 through July - it's just that the P is zero in all cases.

Best chance of upgrade from Business is where it's showing A9.

I had a friend (I think she's QP PS these days) request an upgrade from J to F on QF11 earlier this year. She was very excited to get the text saying the upgrade had come through the night prior to departing. She was very disappointed to learn the upgrade had been revoked at checkin. No-one could give her an explanation as to what had happened. I presume they were able to sell an F seat to a paying pax in that time.

Wow. Do you know if there was any recompense?

I was on QF94 last year in PE on a SAU, the guy next to me said his upgrade to J got reversed. His wife was in J.
The staff seemed to look after him (J PJs, F amenity kit, asking of meal choice before serving the rest of the cabin - this was a non-refurb and we were in the last row).
When the CSS/CSM did the greetings/express card early in the flight, he didn't get an acknowledgment. My guess is he wasn't WP - if he was, the upgrade probably wouldn't have been overturned.
FWIW, the FA asked both of us our meal choices before serving the rest of the cabin.

They are each different fare classes/buckets, all relating to First Class tickets.
P = First Class Award/Upgrade fare class

and F and A are $$$ fares available (minimum number of,when quoted in EF)

We had 2 upgrades J-F earlier this year on QF11 when no P availability.Came through just before 8pm the night before.
Of course there was the equipment substitution and we flew on an older 747 on her way to the desert-Mojave that is.

assume late-granted upgrade requests are treated differently re their allocation than say trying to move a JASA to a FASA (in the 'old' days) relying on P availability?
ie if showing 9 'A' availability, a good chance of successful upgrade request, regardless of P availability? If p availability and upgrading an ASA,then immediate acceptance?

I think she got her points back (as you'd expect), but I'm not aware of any other recompense for a reverted points upgrade prior to checkin.

Applied for a points upgrade (QF12) in 2 months' time.

But look at this screenshot:

Who are these people taking up all the F seats ?

Paid pax ? Unlikely !

Must be AFF FASA !

My heart is sinking every time I look at the seat map (which is an under-representation of seat allocation in any case).

I guess there is a good chance I will keep my 45K points as I do not like row 1 or row 5.
