I was wondering if Virgin Platinum Status get priority to Business Class reward seats with Qatar through Velocity.

If they do, does that priority apply to anyone that the Platinum Status member books a reward seat for, or does the Platinum member need to be flying?

Thanks

No, we don't get priority to Business reward seats with Qatar.

We can see the same availability as everyone else, at the same time as everyone else.

Thank you for the prompt reply.

Am I right in saying you can't search for Business Class Reward seats only.

You are indeed right in saying that. ... I do recall a discussion some time ago about about playing around with the web search's URL in some way which results in a search for Business class only, but I can't recall more than that and I'm not sure that it even still works.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be getting up at 1am for a few weeks to try and get some seats

I've snagged many a flight to/from Europe by doing the same thing: it'll be worth it when those seats come up!
There are plenty of business class seats on flights from Doha to many Europe locations, the problem, to get to Doha, everyone is leaving from the same place (in my case Melbourne) and hence those seats are limited.

When I book the flight with Velocity points, am I best to enter my Velocity or Qatar Privilege Club number when it ask for FF details

I'm assuming that you've used Velocity points to book a flight on Qatar Airways?

If you're booking a Reward flight, be aware that you won't be earning points or status credits regardless of the FF details you enter.

If you're flying Business or First class, it doesn't really matter all that much because your benefits (lounges etc) will be tied to the class of travel.

If you're flying Economy, put in whatever FF programme you have the higher status with, as that status will give you extra benefits such as lounge access.

Having said all that, if all else is equal, enter your Qatar Privilege Club number to access 1 hour free internet on the flight.

Hey,
I would look into investing into avios points as they get early access to the seats before velocity members. Finnair is currently having a sale and you can transfer to Qatar and BA

Thank you.

Yes, I am using Velocity points to book a business class Qatar flight.

So based on your summary, I'll use the Privilege Club number to access the 1 hour free internet.

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get your flight! Out of interest, did you end up following the 1am strategy?

I'm trying for it tonight.

I've been watching closely, sometimes they are gone straight away, and other days, like this morning, both flights out of Melbourne are still available for purchase.

I was tempted to take it, but will tempt fate and wait till tonight (tomorrow) as that is already 3 days before our preferred date.

I was just trying to find out if I should sign my wife up for Priviledge Club, so I'll do that today and use her number when I book the tickets tonight.

@Human I booked the flights at 1am this morning.

I logged on yesterday at 1am and no business class seats were available.
I logged back on this morning and there were 2 flights for this date, but only 1 flight was available. The other flight was my preferred flight, but beggars can't be choosers.

Can you explain why there would be no seats available when you click search at 1.00.01

So glad that you were able to book your flights! Yes, beggars can't be choosers.

Members of Qatar's Privilege Club get first dibs on the flight, as they're made available to Qatar's Privilege Club members about 355 days out, from memory. It's only the flights that haven't already been taken that are released to Velocity, 330 days out.

Thank you for the explanation, that makes sense.

My wife and I are very excited as this will be our 1st ever international business class flights, and to be doing it on the best business class plane will make it even better.

Now to wait 2 months for the return reward flights to go on sale.

I've been looking at velocity reward flights from Paris to Melbourne and there never seems to be any Business Class seats available.

I can get Business Class from Paris to Doha and then economy to Melbourne.

If I did that, would I have access to the Business Class lounge in Doha when I arrive from Paris, before my economy flight to Melbourne

Thanks
