Does VA extend FF status?

Hello - I was wondering if VA sometimes extends or "comps" status like QF sometimes does...my Platinum status is set for review in late August but I don't think I will achieve it - is it worth contacting VA? Thank.

Worked with QF for me years ago but I can't vouch for VA. I've made SG each year since they comped me based on my QF status but haven't had to plead for mercy to maintain it. I might end up about 50 SCs short but will just sweep some from a family member to requalify (apparently you can do that).

It always helps to have future bookings with VA beyond your anniversary as evidence you will be flying with them. International flights have more value than a few domestic flights of course. Still I do have no idea whether it works with VA. Can't hurt to contact them you'd think - talk up your future plans.

I got gold when I was 5SC short a couple of years ago. From memory I had a future booking in the system at the time - otherwise I believe the collective wisdom implies that comping when short is unusual. Calling them would probably elicit the template response I'd guess, unless you had some extenuating circumstances.

You cannot sweep SC [-]or points[/-] that a family member has already earned. Family pooling sweeps the SC at the time of earning, but not later; in the case you decide you need them.

Wow I really should have researched that better. That makes our recent US trip a total waste. Mea culpa.

It truth I wasn't exactly sure if you had future flights planned that you could pool. Just wanted to clarify that it's not possible to move SC from one family member to another once they were in the first members account.

Actually, I was only half correct. Points can be transferred between family members. my post edited.

Yes it would be rather pointless (boom-boom) if you couldn't even transfer points.

I joined the rest of the family to Velocity in a rush just before we left but didn't see the fine print about SCs (or didn't expect it). As to my knowledge you can't transfer SCs with QF I thought it was a neat trick but should have known there'd be a catch.

If only…..

Now I find myself in the same position as the OP. Got booked flights to take me about 70 SCs short with two months left. Might have to bring forward some travel.

40 SC short - needed by 24 Sept. Any ideas? There were some cheap NZ flights in the last happy hour. I was simply going to do SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD as I have work up there regularly but usually fly direct. However it's not cheap for the next month or so.
