DOH transit

Just arrived in DOH for a 9ish hour connection (DFW-DOH-AMS).
Arrived in the new part of the terminal. To my surprise, transit passengers were let right out into the concourse with no security check, unlike prior visits (maybe because we arrived from the US?? But that didn't make a difference last time).
Currently sitting in the new J lounge. Was easier to find compared to the J lounge in the older part of the terminal.

I passed through on the weekend from BCN and directed straight into the departures concourse. First time for me after many transits there but it was also a rare (for me), airbridge arrival. Invariably I score a bus ride in and back out. A bus in is almost guaranteed secondary screening.

@Princess Fiona mention a while back that there is some rationale for screening or not.

Meanwhile, I’m in two minds about the AM North. It’s more spread out but can still get crowded and the A/C can be hit and miss. I went there again because it was closest to my bus departure (C Gates) but we walked past the old AM to catch the train but though about popping in to see if it’s still a zoo.

Whether you have to redo security at DOH depends on how the security people are feeling at the time.

Some origins (e.g. Africa) will always be treated as unclean but US, Europe and other Arab countries may be treated as clean.

I suspect that pragmatism may sometimes come into it. If your arriving flight has lots of pax with short connections and the transit security line is long they may just let you through otherwise there is a risk of delaying flights or having to rebook people.

Airports in Schengen treat arrivals from US, Canada, UK, Ireland, maybe Singapore(?) as clean and you can transit without going through security (immigration may be required) as long as the airport has been built/configured to allow that.

I’ve had to rescreen at FRA arriving from YUL and transiting to AMS.

The reality is you should expect some sort of rescreening when transiting from international to an onward flight. If you’re waved thru - silent fist pump as you head to a lounge.

Yes I think you are right about the bus arrival at DOH.

The layout of terminals and gates at FRA does mean that sometimes you are forced to rescreen when Germany doesn't require you to.

For certain non-Schengen to non-Schengen itineraries transiting FRA, you can choose between going through immigration twice without security, or going through security but no immigration.

That would explain why we were let straight into the departures area arriving on SIN-HEL and not even intending to transit.

Oh that brings back (bad) memories, couldn't have described the experience any better.

We have twice arrived into Frankfurt with everything going very smoothly and quickly. Admittedly the bus transfer between terminals was a bit of nuisance but still pretty easy to use. Only departed once from there and again everything went very smoothly and all the staff we encountered were friendly. However, it was Christmas morning so I think the pax loads were pretty light.

Does anyone know the minimum connection time for a QR (one of the new VA operated by QR) flights to TK. All on one ticket. @madrooster would be grateful for any knowledge. The Aeroplan award seat I can see is only a 1.5 hour connection which makes me nervous, albeit I would be in J. TIA
