Doha-Adelaide-Auckland QR914 route stopping - why?

ADL-MEL-AKL is hardly creative.

In this situation it's take it or leave it (and take the refund). They only have to give you an option, and it doesn't have to be direct.

You're entitled to a refund either way though.
If you are booked in J you would wouldn’t mind the indirect route, in Y the direct on NZ would probably suit plenty

I did expect that it wouldn’t last forever but still disappointed as it suited us perfectly and was a great way to get to NZ. Looks like it’s back to a stopover in the East both ways now from ADL now to get to NZ which is a bit of a downer
Off/T, there is still the miniscule 320neo with (Air)NZ.
Granted its not everyday of the week dep from ADL, and no J cabin.
Really, that is the only choice now.
Was good when they had the 777 and 787, was meaning to try the 787 but on the days when I flew, it was always the 777, this would have been pre covid.
Their WorksDelexe fare can be about Aud$590 or so.
Have flown them on the narrow bodied plane from ADL when the service first started few years back, (Air)NZ ADL - AKL.
OnT.

Many thanks for the information. Shame it is stopping ADL -AKL as it was a great way to get to NZ direct.
I have enjoyed this flight a few times and it has never been very full. It is handy for BA FF as it is just over 2,000 miles.

I flew it last week and I was one of only 7 in J and Y was less than half full. So I guess the loadings have spoken.

The AKL-ADL-DOH service will end on 1 September 2023, to be replaced by a non-stop AKL-DOH service.

Hi , I have flights booked for Auckland from Adelaide in Dec 23. Why Qatar Airways doesn’t offer an alternative flight? I called customer service twice , the advised to lodge a complaint. I have received an email apologising for the inconvenience but no other solution to my request to arrange another flight. Still waiting for them to reply. Any advise on what to do next?

Sadly i think the advice is take the refund and book something else.

You’ll be battling forever with QR, unlikely to ever get a re-route, and end up paying a higher price later in the piece anyway for another carrier. I’d find something suitable and book it if the price is right now.

Welcome To AFF. Sorry to not be more optimistic to a new poster but I think cut your losses on this one.

Keep pushing them. And do again. Is a (poor) precedence when CBR-MEL by QR was stopped. Expect nothing, other than a refund. Cannot see QR booking you on the non stop ADL-AKL Air NZ flight or ADL-MEL/SYD-AKL on QF.
QR are not know for their customer service and consumer law is weak for aviation passengers.
Saturday 23 Dec will be expensive to buy on another airline as time goes on. On that weekend airlines flying trans Tasman will be expecting to sell every seat (for good money).
