Hi

I'm flying QF504 Syd-Bri connecting to QF51 Bri - Sin on Christmas day.

All on 1 PNR.

Can i confirm i only need to arrive in Syd at least 40mins prior to the flight (hoping to arrive 1 hour before though)?
Do i need to go earlier if baggage is going all the way through to Sin?

If you are able to check-in online (with boarding passes on your phone), I would be comfortable arriving 1 hour before. If you want physical passes, ask them to print it at the lounge for you, if you have lounge access.

If you're unable to check-in online, then I would arrive earlier than 1h before. In my experience the line for the international connections counter at Sydney Domestic can get very very long, and it takes forever to process. I was there at 5:15am at the end of November, and it took ~30mins in line (and I was near the front!) to issue me my boarding passes for SYD-xMEL-xLAX-YVR. Some of the people at the back of the line were stressing out since they might miss their 6am flights. There was no priority line for status pax at the time.

With a bag you need to stop by the service desk/international connections. If you have no status, this can take some time. So better to arrive 1 hour before I'd say.

Oh really? Are the machines unable to print tags for international connections if checked in online? Admittedly I've never tried (checked in online for intl' connections before, but I was HLO).

I'm not sure actually (rarely check bags). I was more thinking if OLCI doesn't work (as is often the case these days with QF).

Got it. I'm reasonably sure it's possible to OLCI for flights to Singapore these days as I've done it two months ago, but of course being Qantas IT I'm sure there's a big pile of reasons it could decide to fail.

thanks,

just to confirm, you are indicating i need to go to the international connections counter at Sydney even though i fly out of Brisbane? we depart Syd at 7am.

Will have access to the J lounge at both airports, does this mean we won't need to go to the international connections?

If you don't have mobile boarding passes, you will need to get boarding passes issued at Sydney Domestic for both legs. Usually you would go to the "International Connections" counter in Sydney Domestic (it's on the right side of the terminal) to get this done.

You can't get this done at the J lounge if you have checked luggage, since you need to be issued boarding passes before you can check your bags in, and you can't check your bags in at the lounge. If you don't have checked bags, I would still suggest you go to the international connections desk. I'm unsure if the lounge can check you in for an international flight (I think they can only reprint BPs if you've already checked in online).

ahhh damn, will have to get there early then assuming i can't check in online? Would 90 mins be sufficient ~5:30am for 7am flight?

We are flying in J, so hopefully that can speed up other parts of the process.

I think so. The desks don't open much earlier than that. You could also try the service desk (left) instead which has a priority lane for J pax, but when I tried that I was turned away and told to go to the International Connections desk.

International flights can require a document check.--> Passport with photo like you and eligible to enter the country travelling to. Bags are the easy bit.

actually, another quick question i'm staying at the Stamford the night prior, if we can't check in online to get a boarding pass could we walk up to the international connections desk the afternoon/evening prior to collect our boarding passes?

I took the same trip earlier this year. Arrived about 90 mins before domestic flight SYD-BNE and checked in at airport.

I would say the easiest/least hassle (and potentially only way) would be to do that as I'm pretty sure you'll also need documentation checked to prove ID and vaccination or negative test status for entry into Singapore. Given your in J you can use priority lane at Syd domestic for bag drop and BP issue then head to the J lounge.

last question, do i need to print the proof of vaccination form or entry card or is it sufficient to save copies to my and my Wife's phone which we can show at check in and when arriving in SIN?

Digital copies are fine. If you uploaded your certificate when filling out the Singapore digital arrival card, you're unlikely to need to present it on arrival in SIN.
