Thanks Peter. Might have a new pope before the new ADL terminal is opened.

Hopefully, it won't be that long - nothing wrong with the one we have, infinitely better than the last one.

Are you referring to the ADL terminal?

Nah, the new pope line.

An update for anyone that is interested.

When returning from overseas and you are connecting to a domestic flight then you must clear immigration, collect your luggage, clear customs and then proceed to your domestic flight and re-check your luggage.

I returned the other day BKK-SIN-BNE-SYD and the check-in lady in BKK checked my bags through to SYD. I had no idea and didn't think twice about it. Arrived in BNE cleared immigration and customs, got on domestic flight to SYD only to find that my luggage had not arrived.

The lady in SYD baggage services told me that it should only have been checked through to BNE as that is where i was clearing immigration and customs arriving back in Australia. So my luggage was in BNE international waiting for me to claim it. Qantas were kind enough to send it down on a later flight and courier it to my home free of charge. Thanks Qantas.

It is very common to have the bag tagged all the way through, but you still have to collect it at the international gateway. Having it already tagged to SYD just means that when you take you bag to the domestic checkin desk at the BNE international terminal (after collecting and clearing customs) they don't need to re-tag it. However, it is common for some agents to re-tag it anyway.

Understand the requirements now.

I just thought that it would have been good advice, and airline policy, from the check-in agent in BKK to tell me to collect my luggage at BNE international and then recheck-it at BNE domestic.

I genuinely had no idea and it didn't even click that I was re-entering Australian through BNE, but I wasn't feeling well and had other things on my mind and not able to concentrate on these matters.
