re: Domestic & most International Routes Seat Selection now includes exit rows

Also - just noticed that you can now pay $20 if you have no status to request a seat after booking on international flights.

Using Advance Seat Selection online, you can select window, aisle or other seats directly after booking for just $20 per sector on international flights.

Seat selection is complimentary on domestic flights and for eligible customers, such as Silver, Gold and Platinum Frequent Flyers, on Qantas operated international flights.

I hope this doesn't mean lower status pax will be able to request any seat in the cabin and pay $20 for it (such as row 26 on a 747) - this will seriously reduce the value of status.

More enhancements???

It also looks like advance seat selection is available to all customers for domestic flights at the time of booking.

I am assuming altea rules will still apply, although T-80 will be a whole different ball game.

Also available on international flights.

No it doesn't mean lower status pax will be able to request any seat, it's still based on altea check-in system and the business rules. So nothing like that will change.

Edit: Also once the cabin is 70% or 80% allocated, no more allocation can occur until checkin (web-checkin)

Re: Exit row/premium seating - Oneworld airlines

I'm 6'3"as well. Is this true? I'm WP. Who do I need to talk to?

BTW it now seems WPs and SGs can pre book domestic exit row seats. I just did so for Adl/Mel/Adl flight in mid April

It seems to me that you have two options.

  1. Ring QF and ask if you are able to have it put on your profile and/or
  2. Accept the new availability option for exit rows and get in there early and allocate them yourself.
See Domestic Seat Selection now includes exit rows.

re: Domestic & most International Routes Seat Selection now includes exit rows

3. Preferential seating zones exist for Platinum, Gold or Silver Frequent Flyers, equivalent oneworld members and any passenger travelling with you in the same booking.

re: Domestic & most International Routes Seat Selection now includes exit rows

I have a flight to SYD and back in May through the international terminal (QF19), and am able to select an exit row on both flights now. Nothing came up about payment, but at T-80 I may still move to the front.

I also note that after managing a booking there’s now a button to manage other booking, whereas before there wasn’t and it took a few clicks to get back to the booking page if you don’t have a bookmark!

Re: Exit row/premium seating - Oneworld airlines

Ok something strange is happening - I only have one current booking in Y (on a classic award) and already had 6B and 6C allocated. Just went in to the booking and they show as allocated, so I tried seat selection to see if I could get an exit and the following came up:

QF Seating.jpg

I wonder if this is another new "enhancement" - no seat pre-allocation on Classic Awards??

For my other two current bookings - one JASA and one Paid J flight - I'm still able to select seats as per the "normal" WP seat selection rules.

EDIT: Have read the other thread and noticed it says it does not apply for flights on 734 and 73H aircraft - although some had the ability to do this possibly through a glitch.

As an aside, does anyone know what the underlying reason is for not being able to use advance seat selection on Qantaslink flights? Is it an aircraft trim issue? Different system? Something else?
I know that even at OLCI time there are often seats blocked for trim reasons - I'd have thouight the same could be done to allow advance seat selection if that's the reason.

It's due to the aircraft trim, easier to not allocate the seats otherwise will get people complaining all the time about their seat being changed.

Re: Exit row/premium seating - Oneworld airlines

It might be that the 70% of allocation has been achieved...

re: Domestic & International Routes Seat Selection now includes exit rows

Cheers, I thought as much.

I guess there wouldn't be much point to advance seat selection if they opened up seats for selection progressively for trim reasons as seats were booked - i.e. whoever booked the first seat might only have one seat to choose from :)

That is a small but handy addition. Makes navigation through multiple bookings that bit easier. :)

Doubt it - it's not until the 12th of August, and it was only booked two weeks ago - at that time the entire aircraft was showing as un-allocated. Can anyone check on expert flyer?

I thought it may be due to 738 aircraft not be available to allocate. However, I should be able to still allocate other rows...

I have gone through my bookings and most of them are not offering seat selection for every segment like they used to.

It is really buggy.

I am getting the "aisle/window preference" options, no ability to specific seats for flights that I had previously been able to select a seat.

Methinks this implementation will be withdrawn for review sooner rather than later.

re: Domestic & International Routes Seat Selection now includes exit rows

Just saw this on the QF website:

* There is a limited selection of Exit Row Seats available on domestic flights at no charge. Exit Row Seats are not available on flights operated by Boeing 737-400 or 737-800 aircraft.
QUOTE]

I have a couple of BNE-MEL-BNE flights in May and June on 737-400 and 737-800 aircraft and it has allowed me to select exit row seating on all sectors/aircraft type as an SG.:D

I got that too. But when I tried again the booking engine allowed me to book exit row seats.

It might be that the 70% of allocation has been achieved...

My Mel/Adl flight on 15 April showed an almost empty aircraft. Rows 4 & 5 were blocked (I had 6C, waiting for rows 4 & 5 to open up) but not the exit rows. Yesterday at around this time the exit rows were blocked. Today the exit rows are available but rows 4 & 5 are still blocked.

Ok it's working for me now too - must have been a gremlin in the system for a moment there.

Now in row 13 ... but will try for row 4 at T-80.
