Hi everyone,

I have a ticket booked with Aeroplan which first involves a domestic Virgin Australia Flight (Perth To Sydney) connecting to an Air Canada flight (Sydney to Vancouver). The tickets are all under one booking reference. I was just wondering if anyone knows the answers to the following questions.

1. When I check into my initial flight in Perth, will I receive a boarding passes all the way to Vancouver or do I need to check in again in Sydney with Air Canada?
2. Will my luggage go all the way to Vancouver?

Thanks very much.

I fly from HBA so I always have to check in with VA for SQ and EK flights. If it’s anything like SQ and EK, you should be able to check in to your final destination and check your bags through to Vancouver too. Usually they give me boarding passes for all flights, but since covid they have only given me the domestic leg and asked me to get the others from SQ in MEL. They said it was about sharing travel docs with SQ, but SQ never asked for any docs proving vax requirements when they handed over the boarding passes in MEL. I suspect they’ll be back to using all boarding passes pretty soon. They still booked me in for all flights and checked my baggage through to LHR though.

Your baggage should be checked through, but depending on the current covid circumstances you may need to pick up your onward boarding pass from SYD-YVR at the check-in desk in SYD.
Things may had since changed and they've gone back to issuing boarding passes for all legs, you may need to ask at the check-in desk in PER if they are issuing boarding passes for both of your flight legs.
