HEL (although may be slightly longer flying time). Cant get mileage monkey working properly to check.

MUC is out as zone 1 not zone 2.

Same mileage as LHR. Slightly longer flight time. No idea about the BA lounge facilities but maybe not a dedicated lounge?

I think you mean LIN?

But HEL is an easy transit airport.

VIE might be an option (zone 2 from LHR) but i dont know how many flights/day whereas I chose HEL based on easy transit + multiple oneworld flights each day (hint:AY).

Edit: if you're transitting back through London you might be able to book the QF codeshare from LIN/HEL/TXL etc when connecting onto your onward flight?

Just an update. Given that I need to throw in extra sectors in order to get the 1,400 SCs and this means being away an extra two days at least, Marge has weighed in and, um, strongly suggested I book a point-to-point. So I'm about to book SYD-LAX-SEA-LAX-SYD on VA/VX (where I don't need any extra SCs...). I've still got six months to, perhaps, re-qualify for SG with QF but I don't think that's likely to happen given I find it really difficult to fly them these days.

Thank you for all your help though. Sorry it wound up being a mostly fruitless exercise.:-|

Not sure what your turnaround is on the VA/VX flights, but what about a DCIR26 fare:

SYD-LAX-DFW-SEA-ORD-LAX-SFO-HKG-SYD

Leaving SYD early on 24/5 gets you into SEA at 18:00 on 24/5. Not sure what your return date is but you do take an extra day on the way home due to the detour via HKG.

With Double SCs on QF sectors you'll get 1300SCs for the trip - or possibly a few more if QF codeshares are counted for the promotion.
