Good report DOT.

I'd keep those bags ... they seem quite obedient - following you around like they did! :p

It's quite handy having bags that are an independent traveller:rolleyes:. We had a bag which took a little holiday of its own from AMS - LHR - HKG - SYD a couple of years ago, but only lasted a day before deciding to come home:lol:

As good as my bags seem to be at following me around, I would still rather they actually flew on my plane. ;)

I think there's a surcharge for that:shock:

Glad eveything is resolved :D So about that hand luggage only next time?

Only problem with not writing about your next trip is that implicity you will still be measuring your experience and assessing whether by not writing about you impact the results - sort of like not opening the box in itself imapcts the outcome...

I would happily do hand luggage only. Since my previous DONE4 (where my suitcase was loast at LAX) I have been travelling exclusively with hand luggage only. That has included several trips in the 3-4 week range. The only reason I had check luggage this time around was so that I could be a scapbook mule (to save international postage fromt he US). Apart from my toilet bag and a UK plug adaptor, there wasnt much in the suitcases that I really needed - it was all MrsDot's stuff.

I resemble that remark when we travel.

Very nice trip report dot!

I am almost convinced that the only travellers to lose suitcases are those with convoluted routings. :( It is a sign to stick to the most direct routing available. ;)

Thanks John. I have another DONE4 coming up in May which I will do with hand luggage only if I get my way with MrsDot, but if I can't then I think I will do a more direct routing. It's just not worth the pain.

On my previous trip with luggage, (LAX-LHR) it was a single segment and they still managed to loose my suitcase. In that case and on this most recent DONE4, LAX was the problem point. The second loss occured at AKL, but I am prepared to discount this as a once off - it is the first time I have done an Intl Transfer at AKL, so I am prepared to give them the benifet oif the doubt.

Perhaps I should keep my contact with LAX to a minimum. Never been to SFO, maybe I should route through there instead...
