Apparently mechanical and all domestic flights. Plenty of gaps for a delay but not outright cancellation. Lots of peed off ‘suits’ this morning at Adelaide.Commiserations Puska...Im sure itll all post correctly after some interventions but PITA.
From other peoples experience, relying on the first flight out of a regional port (i.e. non SYD, MEL or BNE) to make a connection seems to be quite risky...all it takes is fog or fleet dislocation from day before and schedule is in disarray.
Why do my status runs end up in the toilet? Last time my flight out of NZ was 3 hours late. Ever spent 5 hours in the AKL lounge and late at night?
I was originally booked ADL-MEL-OOL return on same day on 23rd Oct. The Flight Adl - Mel to depart at 6.05am so early night to try get some sleep. Then a longish connection in Mel then 40 minutes at OOL getting me back to Adelaide at around 5pm. 400 SC all up. Easy.
At 1.30am received a text from Qantas. Adl - Mel flight cancelled (Monday morning business flight cancelled? Some major scrambling having to be done by all).
And of course no other flights to Mel to connect with OOL flight so now booked on 6am flight to Sydney but long delay in Syd means I miss the return flight that’s on sep PNR.
So at 1.45am I’m on to Qantas. Calling after deep sleep of all of 2 hours and am leaving in four hours.
Have to rebook return leg (sep PNR and booked through Amex travel using $450 credit. Of course they are not open.)
Having to make snap decisions. I was offered direct on Jetstar. Hell no.
Ended up Adl - Syd - OOL and return at around 9pm tonight. So a 15 hour flying day after 3 hours sleep the night before. I know not only will I need to argue Original Status Credit but also most likely the DSC. Interestingly Qantas were able to change the Amex booking.
I think this will be my last run.
The worst thing? Qantas is still sending me notifications for the original booking while hanging around Sydney club.
As would mine have been except MrP is currently away and I always have my phone near me when he is. I have this worry about having a ‘medical incident’. From the grumbling this morning and the queue for service out of the door of the QP I’d say your situation was the most common. My phone is on silent after 11.30pm so I would never have seen that text probably until I was walking out the door. Keep drinking the gin
And of course the incorrect number of SC’s posted.
Hopefully QF will send you the latest "customer advisory survey"... it's about cancellations! Why do my status runs end up in the toilet?
Just following up to say I received the bonus SC last week for the flight I had booked the day before the promo. Well done QFF.QFF gets bagged a lot but they do get it right too. I’m LFS currently Gold FF and with a RTW award trip already part booked for next year, would sell a kidney to make sure I am still Gold in October next year. I had been putting off making a series of bookings for the next couple of months hoping there may be another DSC promo, but caved in yesterday afternoon to make a BNE-MEL-BNE booking for later this month. Then 10 mins ago I see the email from AFF, B*******er. However nothing ventured, nothing gained so I rang QFF straightaway to see if they could/would please include yesterday’s booking and get “yes sir let me look, I can see the booking, yep, done, no trouble is there anything else I can help you with today Sir”? I wish I could remember her name but QANTAS if you do read this, give the girl a raise. And yes I made sure I stayed online to do the satisfaction survey. Kudos

That's why I like my iPhone - you can set it so it still rings .... if an unknown number calls three times within a certain amount of time.
Its for emergencies, so if someone really needs to get hold of you they can.A bit O/T, but who thought that up? I have wondered about that option. Do I really need some random number ringing through on my iPhone like that?
Maybe my least favourite Call Centre from O/S. They really need to speak with me. It’s a very strange option, that one. Also, my employer is another. Multiple phone numbers at random (heaps). Its for emergencies, so if someone really needs to get hold of you they can.

Edit: Apologies. Getting too O/T
Yes. They can be so pesky. Employer calls are automated. Robots ringing. But they have to ring multiple times in quick succession to get through.
There will be others more expert than me, but from experience you should be OK as long as the booking retains the same PNR. I have had fairly extensive changes in destinations, including international, but on the same PNR and within relevant period. Double SCs posted without issue. Previous DSC promos, but don't believe there's been a change to that.Hey guys, quick question:
I booked a J BNE-CNS flight during the DSC promotion (after registering), flying in March. If I change this ticket completely to flights to north America (also within the designated DSC period) will I still get DSC? What if I change fare class?
Cheers!

I believe you are correct. I had the same vague notion in my head and I could have sworn I had read it in this thread before but couldn't find the posts! There will be others more expert than me, but from experience you should be OK as long as the booking retains the same PNR.
